Why did you choose your Bluelight user name?

I wrote this in my profile, for clarification.

I joined this site over 10 years ago. At that time most of us were clubbers who were concerned about the safety of "E". I was a big old skool prodigy fan, and was listening to one of their songs Charlie. The main vocals were "little bit of bass... little bit of........ Raas."

I wondered WTF "raas" meant? Bit o' googling later and it turned out to be something about being in a "higher state of consciousness". That same afternoon, I was registering on Bluelight thinking of a username... "Raas!" I thought... it was a word on one of my fave prodigy songs... and the "higher state mind thing" sounded appropriate for a drug user. It was short, sweet and suitable for a username.

10 years later and everyones forgotten about the prodigy, Im getting frequently mistaken as some kind of Jamaican Rastafarian. Subsequently I don't use this user-name anywhere else.

I got sick of people bulling on various tint'ernets forums / its a mixture of my real nickname. Nothing fancy.
 
think i had a newspage opened that posted some stats from the nhl and therefore got the nickname. it got no real connection to much person at all.
 
I used to have a friend named Keith and I would always call him Bandit Keith because I was real into Yu Gi Oh at the time and he hated it.

Am slightly loathe to tell now cos I've noticed a bit of speculation masquerading as FACT! recently which rather pleased me in a mytholgised egotistical kinda way. However, I'll pull back from the brink of uberpretension and just be honest. When I first moved to this teensy-tinsy lil town the local kiddies found out the reasons for my moving here (cos it's a teensy-tiny lil town, silly :p). Apparently they'd never come across anybody with a history of crack/smack/everything addiction so they took to shouting out "Shambles!" behind my back when I was in town. I decided I quite liked the sound of it and, after consulting with felixdahousecat (=D) (cos I was a lil unsure of myself back then but had already decided that 'entheogenius' soudned kinda wanky and was also a bit of a mouthful and there are severl variations on 'entheo' extant) took the opportuntity to switch to my current and permanent monniker as soon as I got modded. The name has been well and truly reclaimed and most folk I've met through BL tend to call me that in person. Although several will use my given name when they've heard the reasons for my screenname - presumably cos they think it may be a bit of a sore point. I can assure such people it isn't. I never did like my given name anyway (although have grown to accept and even be quite fond of it sometimes) so am quite happy either way.

Did she? Coulda sworn that was me. But Mz Eff trumps me every time in so many ways so am happy to step aside. I prefer this version despite being quite fond of the original for entirely non-Danzig (*retches*) reasons.

Ha! I kinda thought that "everybody" knew my original username on here. Actually it wasn't my orginal username cos I had fuckloads of throwaway and/or troll accounts before I settled down enough to be able to keep a regular account. And the name of that account (same one I have now) was 'entheogenius'. I actually took quite a bit of shit from a few folk for the name change (*glances sideways at shm who never quite forgave* ;)<3). Never did understand why cos 'entheogenius' is a bit wanky, and 'Shamble'... well, it just ain't. I'm actually rather attached to it now :o
 
I thought entheogenius was wicked. Also, I did not acknowledge the debt I owe to Killababylonkutz.

Forgot to add that your current nick went up considerably in my estimation when reading the reason you gave there. I didn't click on who you were till you mentioned it in a thread recently and had, up until that point, thought it strangely generic for one with such day-um fine musical taste and uberkewl avatar.

Incidentally, anyone who knows the reasoning (or indeed just the definition if the reasoning is a bit much to ask) behind my "lifelong" (I don't recall ever having a different avatar even on prior accounts) avatar gets... nothing other than perhaps the traditional BL two-fisted reacharound...
 
Infinitely prefer Shambles to entheomouthful. There's an abundance of drug-related usernames here but Shambles is nice n original.

Whilst I don't disagree with you there, Raas, the equivalent would be for you to go move in amongst my previous junky/crackhead circle and try laying out your Xtian stuff on 'em. I suspect you may just get a few names behind your back if you did.

But yeah, oddly enough, junky/crackheads are not overly welcome in tiny, rural Welsh Wales. Whoulda thunk it?!? 8(
