Altho I *could* mod objectively (I've been a mod at other places), because I'm against censoring unless it's something that interferes with information or the HR stance (here anyway). A little <snip> here and there if someone crosses a personal line maybe at a stretch, but I couldn't indulge personal beefs with infractions, they can either be mediated (doesn't even have to be by a mod), or there's the ignore button, but more importantly posters can and should be encouraged to ask each other to remove something if it's THAT upsetting. So I couldn't enforce the BLUA verbatim if required to, unless as I already mentioned it gets in the way of HR/Info or is sourcing, all for which I have reported posts myself. If I cross a line on any of the above issues, and I'm asked to, I willingly delete my own posts. Encouragement of posters to manage themselves in this way often works imo, like Shammy and you did in the Speed thread the other day. Same for personal posts due to beefs.
[edit] Raas is someone else who's responsible enough to listen to advice, and often goes back and deletes stuff if someone suggests it crosses the line, or could easily be misinterpreted. So it can be a very successful way to deal with problems between posters and offense caused. People should be encouraged to do this more often. MOST posters are reasonable in this way[/edit]
Instead: 'Marmz, could you remove that GIF please'? 'Yeah, ok'. Simple.
[edit] This is why transparency is good, and posters behave differently under the cloak of secrecy, than in public. Forced to air their beliefs in public and it's a different story. This is why Raas is a decent poster, because he's prepared to put himself up for scrutiny AND listen, and adapt with criticism from others. [/edit]
I don't think I've broken any rules by writing the above, since I didn't get an infraction, and I know we aren't supposed to talk about them, but I wrote it mainly to illustrate how Modding could be done successfully, without creating more work, but reducing it a little, if anything. I fundamentally disagree with large parts of how we are modded.
