this is it with being a parent, you're that child's parent till the day you die no matter what. I've had a hard time with my lad over the gear, but that's it I don't want to not be in his life. He's my boy. My mate has a son about that age that he hasn't seen a lot of. I tell him that he needs to build his relationship with him, it's never too late while your living and breathing.

It is hard when you have not been a part of a childs life for so long but just cos we missed so many years together it doesn't mean we can't make up for it over the next 20-30 years.
Just wish I had been around to see him grow up etc as those moments can never be repeated but I'm sure we will have our own special times now.
