mescaline to dmt

So my friend who knows some people has a very pecullar method to synthesising dmt. They take cactus and extract mescaline, then cook it with paintthinner, anda microwave or somthing...but he claims the end result is dmt..is this real? Or just a crude salt of mescaline? Can you convert mescaline into into dmt?
Ill try and post a detailed version of their method if i can get it.
But any advice on the subject would be apreciated as im extreamly skeptical about this eventhough my friend swears by it.

Just sounds like a very crude extraction of mescaline.
DMT and mescaline are very much unrelated compounds
 
Yea that doesn't even make sense like toast said they are completely different drugs; mescaline is a phenethylamine and dmt is a tryptamine. There is a 0% chance of it being possible in any way shape or form.
 
Mescaline is phenethylamine and dmt is tryptamine, they are a different family of compounds ... These books are by a chemist named Alexander Shulgin ...they are kind of a canonical desk reference to different drugs that can be made by making small substitutions in these basic types of molecules...enjoy!!

Yeah, chemistry doesn't work like legos do... You can't just take off parts that you don't want and attach them somewhere else. There are rules. If you could do that, people would turn melatonin into DMT since melatonin is extremely readily available and is actually a tryptamine.
 
I believe he means he converts the mescaline into miaowamine, this is the fabled psychedelic produced in cat urine and is way more powerful than DMT.
 
The process for extracting mescaline from mescaline-containing raw material is very similar to the process for extracting DMT from DMT-containing material, but DMT from mescaline... you can't turn mescaline into DMT in a fully equipped organic lab, much less a Toshiba. It is much more likely that what he is actually producing is the legendary bananadine.

hey, atleast you took the effort to check from a trusted source if your friend was bullshitting or not (which he is indeed) so you now know you can't trust nobody on "the street" before checking from an informed source (I myself have heard stories about LSD tabs melting legs or mescaline blotters lol)

btw I'm interested in the method he supposedly uses to magically make a tryptamine out of a phenethylamine (maybe he's jesus)

QFT. I was gonna say the internet sounds like a much better starting place than this colleague of yours. :D Should you attempt to extract some DMT, make sure to be safe over anything else when you do it.

Edit: Please do post a detailled version of the process though, for the luls.

Yes this definitely should be closed before someone unravels the alchemical mysteries of converting mescaline into DMT ;) for reals though.
