I go to a pain clinic. I live in a small town and there are only three such clinics. Two of them refused me as a patient even though I had never been there before nor do I have an legal records of abuse etc. I think it might be because Im on Medicare and many clinics either wont accept a new medicare patient or they severely limit the number of appointments made available to those of us on medicare.
For the past three years I was given genetic percocet. 325/10's. For the last year and a half I was prescribed two of them four times a day.

I want to be completely honest here. I enjoyed the euphoria I got for an hour or two after taking my meds. I crushed them um and them just swallowed the powder. I also took Cimetidine and a glass of white grapefruit juice an hour before consuming my meds to potentate the effect.

I have a legitimate need for strong pain meds. Over the years I've had 16 surgeries on my knees. One now has an artificial joint and rarely causes me pain. But the other one is REALLY bad. I was hospitalized twice in January and among other things they xrayed my knee. The radiologist and ortho surgeon who came to talk to me about it made a comment I've heard before. "We can't believe you are walking with this!!" But it wasn't my knees nor the six surgeries on my ankle(lots of screws and metal plates there) that led me to a pain clinic. It was my back. My MRI's show I have stenosis and several borked disc's. And I can use the expression "pain in the ass" accurately in a sentence. My back problem has been absolutely debilitating. and has caused me the most chronic and continual pain I've ever experienced.

For some time my Dr has threatened to put me on oxycontin but I refused. However last month I wasn't given the chance to refuse and I was prescribed two 40mg oxycontin a day. The Dr assured me it would work the same or MUCH BETTER.

The truth is I no longer experience any euphoria and more importantly they do NOT reduce my pain as well. They take an hour or mor to start to work and they do NOT last twelve hours. After reading online I have taken to grinding them with a pair of pliars and a "pedegg". I them swallow the powder hoping to increase the effect by increasing the surface area.

But they still don't work as well.

I'm going to try something new tomorrow. I'm going to place the powder into a shot glass that has pure lemon juice in it. That or follow the advice I quote below:

"I have found the absolute BEST way to use the new OPs without wasting ANY medication. STOP heating these up in the microwave, you're wasting too much medication and we all know how precious our oxy's now are.
I've tried every method on the net from microwaving/freezing, to coke, alka selter, lemon juice, vinegar and I promise you, MY method will give you the absolute BEST high and not waste ANY of your meds!
Go to your local pharmacy and pick up some vitamin C stuff called "EmergenC". It disolves in a little bit of water like Alka Selzters do, but it's got a ton of citric and many other acids in it, so it will dissolve a cut up oxy in about an hour. Plus you can take 4-6 packs of this stuff a day and it's good for you! Make sure to dissolve one packet in about a quarter cup of room temp water. Stir until all of it's dissolved. After cutting up an OP, (no need to take off the outer coating with this method), put in the glass and stir. Let sit from 15 minutes (for light dissolving) to up to an hour to dissolve completely. Stir gently every 5-10 minutes as the pieces will try to stick to the side of the glass while dissolving. If you wait until it's all dissolved and drink, you'll get an absolute excellent high AND it'll last hours, instead of minutes the way heating/freezing method does. No matter how well you heat/freeze it, you're still wasting a shit load of medication this way.
Dissolve one before going to bed each night, wake up and you're good to go! It takes about 10-15 minutes to hit, but it will hit hard and strong. PLUS you don't waste ANY of your medication this way. Give it a try, I promise you'll like it!
I don't claim this to be my method, however, like others, I've endlessly searched online and nobody else has posted it this way. (I have posted it anonymously in two other forums) Spread the word, this method works great!"

I have been hospitalized twice this month. My father died a couple of months ago and my mother died just this past Saturday. Between this loss and my pain I am losing it. I thought of buying some alcohol but I am an alcoholic and know that would only make things worse.

I see my pain Dr next week. My question I desperately am hoping for help with is how to either get my dr to prescribe a much stronger dose of oxycontin and perhaps allow me to use them three times a day. Get him to put me back on the Perc's(I think the chances of that are slim) or is there another time release med that might lend itself to provide some euphoria as well as work MUCH better in suppressing my pain? I only have a part time job but have missed a lot of work due to my pain.

I know i'm whining and I apologize. But I am DESPERATE.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to respond!!

The old OC's are night & day from the new oxys's. The new oxys don't do much & don't work anything like the old ones.

Try getting switched back to percs.........

the op oxycontin works way better if you crush it into a disk and cut it up fine with scissors

I WOULD LOVE TO. But I don't think there's any possibility. I've never sold them or done anything dumb with them but my Dr's are PARANOID. I could possibly ask for a fentanyl patch instead but don't know anything about them. For some reason IV morphine when I'm in the hospital does ABSOLUTELY nothing for me. Even at higher doses. They gave up on that and gave me IV Dilaudid which did help. I know there's a time release dilaudid. Do you think THAT might be a reasonable request and would it work better than these POS Oxycontins? I even have to wait an EXTRA hour when I fill them at Walgreens because they triple check the RX. They never did that with the percs. And at this very moment my back is KILLING me.

I used a PedEgg and a pair of needle nose pliars on one this morning. Took me 15 minutes. I figured even though the system was still in place the larger surface area would allow for the med to be released quicker.

These things are HARD! I lost half of one yesterday when using a razor blade to cut it in half.
Kerpow! ZIp! 1/2 GONE!

Many people pass them barely untouched by the digestive system all the way to the shitter.

worthless as their weight in gold...most patients that take them for chronic pain dont know the difference and big pharm' and most doctors hope nobody catches on

This is against the rules, sorry.
