You kinda get threads.. someone will post a topic or whatever (within a group) and then people comment.. but your right it's shit to use as a forum.. I don't bother with that shite.

I think the reason it's popular is that it's massively flexible in its uses and you can fine-tune it to show what you're interested in. Personally I use it for private chat, friends that share sciencey/interesting news, instant chatting shite in special-interest groups, and figuring out what events are on. I mostly don't pay attention to anyone that spams me with pictures or memes. I will miss it when it's gone, but you're all entitled to your opinions. :p
 
I don't use Facebook as much as I use Bluelight but when I do facebook represents a very censored version of my life.

To be fair, I am working from a very small sample size ;)

Thing is, I'm sure I'd like it if I used it but I also know me and know I'd just replace BL with FB and I would rather stick with BL for a variety of reasons. I do greatly dislike FB for it's general iffiness as a company but I'm also a complete hypocrite on a regular basis so I'd conveniently overlook that if I had an account I have no doubt.
 
I think reddit has probably had an influence in weakening the 'footfall' in many forums.

(haven't thoroughly read this whole thread so don't know if it's been mentioned already)

I don't read reddit though cause I can't stand the layout

Facebook did do one good thing for me as if it hadn't been for Facebook I would never have found my son again.
So I have facebook to thank for that and for putting me back in touch with friends from when I was a teenager in Germany.
Now though I have nothing in common as such with childhood friends as all our lives have taken different paths and from what I can gather my path is the only one that seems to have involved drugs.
Unless of course everyone censors their lives on there as I do?

That's exactly how I use Twitter Dan.
I find it excellent for up to the minute news,information from different unemployment groups I follow and loads of quality political groups and general info.
If you find the right people,groups & organisations that you are interested in then Twitter really can be a mine of information.

People banging on anti facebook yet havent even used the fucking thing are talking bollocks. it aint much different to a forum. plus it contains people you actually know, or have met. if you have real life friends anyway

Ah lovely.
I have only ever had venison once and that was at a farmers market that visits the town every so often.
One guy was selling venison steaks to take home & also cooking up venison burgers to eat there.My mate any myself bought a burger each and they were bloody lovely. Best tasting meat I've ever had.

Some of my anti-FB stuff no doubt is a bit bollocksy but not wot I said up there. And (for those everpresent complex and dull reasons) I don't so if I had a FB account I'd only be talking to BLers anyway. That and the last thing I need is another thing that swallows up endless vacant hours.

Only problem with venison is that it's a bit deer.
I was reading the Periodical Table earlier,I do that every now & again.
