We'll PKPro posted some links below, but mine was based on this chart.

0.25mg buprenorphine = 10mg = 100mg codeine

Therefore

1mg buprenorphine = 40mg morphine = 400mg codeine

Those values are given using the sublingual ROA for the bupe, and the oral ROA for the morphine and codeine, although there are also values given for the IV ROA for morphine for those that are interested in that.



Yea those are the same values that I got, just in different values using the same proportion. Yours is saying 0.75mg of buprenorphine = 300mg of codeine which is just 3x the values that are given for each drug on the chart I cited.

Yeah those are about the numbers I got too when researching the topic. I'll post some sources when I get a chance.
 
One things for certain, if bupe was full agonist, it would be one of the most kick ass opiates out there! Hah!

If you're counting on bupe doctors to make the right choices and know what the hell they're talking about, you're crazy. Hah. I know that might sound nuts that a doctor who supposedly specializes in bupe wouldn't know his foot from his ass, but unfortunately, it's true in many cases.
 
Lol Mr.scag thanks for putting it straight :) at the time I didn't really research bupe like I usually research whatever drug I've been prescribed through Google. My parents were trying to get me off Codeine by being controlling - searching my house, having all parcels sent to them etc etc I wasn't thinking straight. I talked to a friend who said she'd been on suboxone for 4 years (not blaming her) n saw how great her life was, asked for suboxone. I was not ready to give up opiates simple as that. I've no one to blame but myself!

When I was on 8 mg of suboxone I felt normal but empty n flat n made a COMPLETE N UTTER FOOL OF MYSELF getting drunk all over forums. Was this due to too much suboxone then? I mean if I'd been put on 2 mg of suboxone would I have felt / acted differently? Don't get me wrong I still take responsibility for that behaviour but if I hadn't felt so empty....... There again lots feel empty after given up opiates, right?

Maybe people weren't judging me about being on suboxone? Maybe they were expressing concern n I acted defensively thinking people were attacking me? I think I may have got things wrong......

LSD to answer your question I feel better on 12 mg as in my life is better. I'm exercising, doing my assignment, have goals, not drinking a bottle of vodka per night like when I was on 8 mg but not high or anything like that. Suboxone has never got me high - just normal. Occassionally I'll have a slight nice feeling off it but nothing major. The extra 4 mg has taken the emptiness away. And I wouldn't wish that emptiness feeling on ANYONE because there's a black hole n nothing fills it, everything just makes it 1000 times worst. Thank God that's gone n life has meaning again.

PS Christ no. Not that amount. I took 800-900 mg per day!
 
Eve - for 800-900MG a day habit you should be much lower then where you stand/are. hell, the bupe is probably getting you higher, which is why you like much better. lol. I was taking 16MG coming off a 1-3 gram dope habit; nevermind a 900MG codeine habit.

I am down to 6-8MG daily (morning only) and I feel better than I did at 16MG. It just may take a day or two for that adjustment to take place so sit back and relax, smoke some weed, or just chill the fuck out and realize whats happening. no biggie, you have the supply, so no worries. but better to stay ahead of your Dr. ALWAYS! my Dr. still think I am on 16/MG and making switch to 12MG next month. meanwhile I am on 6-8MG daily ONLY. I will be at 4 a month or two from now and he will still have me at 12. as long as I am confident I am fine; the minute I lose the confidence and slip and go down that path, then I have all the bupe and then some to back it up. but I have no worries, or at least its what I tell myself, right?

its so funny to hear some peoples' problems and then you compare yours. 800MG codeine. ha. then picture someone in a bathroom w/ a spoon, needle and shoelace tying off to shoot .5 or full G to get the HIGH. and here we are now but youre on a higher dosage of bupe than I am, ha. all makes sense.

Unfortunately bupe doctors, just like Mr. Scag stated, don't know their foot from their ass, they overprescribe every single time, i have yet to see one who has prescribed the correct dose.

Evey, first off, bupe shouldn't give any feeling... its not its intended effect.. secondly, that emptiness you speak of, thats part of the treatment, we all feel emptiness we all crave once in a while... its completely 100% normal.. by taking so much your tolerance to pain killers has probably gone out the roof... think about those conversions and compare them to your dose of codeine... if you were ever to need pain killers again you'll find yourself in a rough spot now due to the bupe, when it was unnecessary... i understand its hard, we all know that... but you should do yourself the favor and consider dropping down to an adequate dose of bupe. i only say this because i care. please don't take it the wrong way. Plus, remember that less is more with bupe, you might enjoy the increased Nor-Buprenorphine in your system which comes as a result of dropping your dose down... who knows??

Indeed BBT, dopes a whole other ball game, and being a fellow blue lighter who has used the plunge... we have to, unfortunately, use more bupe to compensate for it.

Yeah, i will agree that there are different levels of addiction and that they obviously require different levels of treatment.. but id say that the doctor is more to blame than evey, if the doctor knew his/her shit he would have never given evey that dose... stupid idiot suboxone doctors seriously need to all be put into more extensive buprenorphine classes to better understand this drug. my Dr. still believes that the naloxone prevents people shooting the Suboxone/Zubsolv and will NOT prescribe subutex for that reason, i want so badly to tell her that thats a load of crap, and that i know out of personal experience that thats a crock of shit... but i doubt she'd take it the right way.
 
well, as mentioned, my Dr. still has me on 16MG but I stay light years ahead of the guy. coming off my habit I started at 24MG and dropped to 16MG a week later; few months pass and I go to 12MG; from there I go to 8MG and then 6MG (slip happened) and back to 8MG and now playing with 8 and 6MG but still scripted for 16MG. my next appointment is Tuesday and he drops me to 12MG in his books; in my books that means I'll be making the drop to 6MG daily. I always want to stay ahead of schedule for many reasons. I don't go selling my leftovers like some do but I keep them JUST IN CASE, ya know!?! ha. you never know in this game. also, I give some to my friends who need help just to get them by. it's nice to be only on ONE PILL daily rather than having to split dosage like I once did.

bupe is what you make of it. gotta learn from it as you go. it hits everyone differently.

No offense taken, but you mentioned you were on 800-900 of codeine. you're in over your head at this point. I was always under the impression this forum was for all ex heroin junkies, not someone coming off codeine at your level (prob scripted through doc).

follow what you can and already have gotten yourself into. I am NOT SURE HOW OR WHY THE DOCTOR DOES NOT SEE THIS.. BUT.. you've gotten yourself into more trouble w/ bupe than you were with codeine (if your codeine was scripted.)

If you were to go back to codeine you'd have to talk quadrupole what you once were taking to feel that same "high". I very much assume in your early days on bupe that you got a "high" from that type of dosage considering where you were coming from? right?

let's talk open and honest here. let's not HIDE or PRETEND. you are all in bad/tough/rough situation, so no worries. but I assume you go to a private Dr. as opposed to a clinic, right? cuz that dude was in out of space when scripting someone w/ a habit like that the amount he did.

I am not singling you out but I am "helping" just like PKPro and Tommyboy w/ dosing; I had no idea you were on that. always assumed you were just a junkie using dope daily. youre riding a high at 12MG bupe coming from what you were once doing.

+1, the opiate support 'specialist' clinician i saw told me to swallow the bupe pills. He also asked me how much alcohol i drank whilst i was at university 25 years ago, and a thousand other pointless and irrelevant questions.

I finally quite bupe on the 9th of Jan. Havent touched any since. I found it easy this time round, my second quit attempt, after i failed to hold out on my first try. I tapered from 0.5 to 0.4. to 0.2. to 0.1. Then jumped. I have been on a minor kratom run over these last few days, but thats all gone now, and i dont want to re-order any more too soon. It would be all to easy to pick up a kratom habit as i am enjoying it very much.

I know i am i danger of relapsing and wasting all my hard work, so its fortunate that my kratom has run out. Having substances in the house makes them very hard for me to resist. I have to stay clean now and not develop another habit as i have an international flight to take soon, and will have to be able to cope without any opiates at my flight destination. I am possibly one of the least disciplined people in the world, but i just want to say to others that may be struggling or doubting whether they can do it. You can do it, i did an unsupervised black market taper. I mean to encourage others that may be struggling; if i can do it anyone can.

I stopped smoking cigarettes about 10 days before stopping bupe. Statistically this increases success rates. Subjectively i feel that the reason for this is that my appetite was improves, i wasnt being poisoned by additional toxins, so i was much more physically fitter and resilient. I also got a lot of support from the good folk of EADD helping me believe i could do it. Someone gave me a tough love message of support; 'ive got to a cluck off 20 years of heroin use, and i wont be bitching or whinging about. i wouldnt even mention it. Just get it done'. That did it for me, i was making a mountain out of a molehill. It is both a physical and mental battle, it helps if you get both aspects as strong as possible.

Thanks again Mr S for supporting me and answering my questions during this period. You were very helpfull and knowledgable.
 
Hey guys. I currently have 5 or so mg of bupe in my system and am wondering which of these is more likely to break through: methadone or hydromorphone (dilaudid)?

how long ago did you take your bupe? 5MG is nothing. if it's been 8hours and you have good dosing of dilaudid then youre good.
 
well its been awhile but I had a high dose. I had 16 milligrams 5 days ago, 20 milligrams 4 days ago and then 12 milligrams 60 hours ago,,and I did some calculations earlier that led me to believe that I will be around 5 milligramsa few hours. Assuming that my half life is the average of 37hours
 
Sub sticks on my receptors like superglue...I couldn't cut thru 1mg with two bags of dope. (smoked)
I think everyone is different in that respect. Some the half life is 12hours and some it's 36...
If you want more bang for your buck, wait till tomorrow morning....
