The Internship was fucking hilarious as shit. Wilson, Vaughn, the Taco Bell guy, the cop from The Hangover (Rob somebody), Ferrell, Goodman. Got a bit too deep/slow for me at times, but it was a great comedy.

Vendetta

A movie about a former military soldier avenging the gruesome death of his parents. I liked the film but I always like films about revenge

I'm a fan of just about anything Saoirse Ronan is in.
This film was exceptional considering I only wanted to see it because she was in it.

Also saw Lone Survivor, gritty & about as close to field combat as I'll ever get. Good film.

I'd also recommend 12 years a slave while I'm here.

American Hustle was over rated in any review I read.

^
I feel like I'd have to see it again. I had really high hopes going in (for American Hustle) and I left feeling disappointed. I think if I saw it again with more realistic expectations and with an idea of how the movie is I might enjoy it more, but I definitely didn't understand what all the hype was about. The acting was good. I'll give them that.

The Dish & the Spoon

because it's is on netflix instant and i'm liking greta gerwig. the film plays with gender roles. her character's masculine traits are not very desirable. she's stupid in a disarming way, but she's really stupid. freaking out because she can't afford the donuts and dogfish ipa. even though there was no falling for her and she's all there is to the movie, it's somehow not horrible. greta's comforting and nothing happens.

Carrie 2013

The re-make of the Rage Carrie movie (1976) the ending of the story is a bit different. All in all it was an okay movie still enjoyed it but nothing beats the original one

The Exam 2009

A movie about candidates for an exam who compete in a job position of a corporate company given a test that is simple but confusing which makes them turn into each other.

Loved the movie I'd give this a 4 out of 5 for creativity

watched "blue jasmine" earlier, it was really good. cate blanchett plays a NY socialite that looses it all and can't come to grips with reality. she owned that role, heck i felt my heart race increase when she would have a panic attack.

and just finished "Her" was blown away, words not needed. SEE IT!

A young girl's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk

I came away from this thinking about what sort of legacy I would leave my daughter if I died tomorrow.

I glad this movie isn't something she would remember me by. At least all the acting improved from the early scenes to the last.

Hunger Games hehe loved it!

I know a lot of people are sayin "the book is better" but hey I enjoyed it, plus I really think that Jennifer Lawrence's acting was much better.

I preferred the film tbh. Was surprised that the star, Jennifer Lawrence, actually played the creepy/psychotic kid in Orphan when she was like 12; they look nothing alike.

I haven't seen the sequel yet, but I felt the original novel was the strongest, and thought there was a decline for the rest of the trilogy.

Brown Bunny...it's on utube. Weird movie. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. The sex scene is pixelated. If your bored and can't sleep..it's the movie to watch. The acting is pretty bad...

Technotise: Edit & I

I ran a Google search of Bluelight and was surprised this 2009 Serbian animated film hasn’t been mentioned once.

Synopsis (partially borrowed from wiki):

After failing the same university exam for the sixth time, Edit Stefanović decides to visit a dealer on the black market who installs a stolen military chip in her body that will record everything she sees to help pass the exam. Edit also has a job at a scientific and social research company taking care of Abel Mustafov, a mute autistic math genius who discovered a formula that connects all forces in the world, but no computer was able to calculate it fully without becoming self aware and shutting down immediately after that. Mustafov is also apparently able to presage future events but will not communicate what he perceives. Members of the research facility and the military hope his limited social response to Edit will lead to further revelations. When Edit stumbles across his formula by accident the implanted memory enhancement chip becomes self-aware and begins to grow, incorporating itself into her body and nervous system symbiotically.

The plot of Technotise is very much in the cyberpunk tradition. Though it has its own unique storyline, fans of Ghost in the Shell will notice many overlapping themes – the most prominent of which deal with identity, artificial intelligence, and the ambiguity between life and non-life – as well as some direct allusions. Technotise is also surprisingly funny. At first I was disappointed that the animation was CGI shaded to look like cell animation, but it quickly became clear that a lot of artistry was invested in creating an original aesthetic. A few highly psychedelic stills and some fractal animation add further variety to the style. By the end I had the impression that I’d seen a labor of love that most likely flew under the radar due to its Serbian creators’ modest ability to market it (I've since read that the entire movie was made in a small apartment in Belgrade by just 10-15 people over five years).

A Taste of Tea

this movie is good stuff. its runtime is pretty long, and it takes full advantage. their world is so nice. no reason not to take time in it. the really cheap special effects are there on occasion, but it almost goes with the weird aesthetic -- like House, only not campy. i teared up for a second when the little girl finds the flip book made for her. that's one of the movie's better scenes. one of the best sequences is the go game, resulting walk, and revised reprise. great characters. my least favorite was the the uncle, ayano. his off putting, slightly above it personality might be intentional, but it's not enjoyable. the father's lack of presented depth had me confused at first. his character is is just dealt with differently; he's more difficult to see and that's cool. the little girl is of course my favorite. everything about her. how she's always sleeping, almost nodding outside on the hard surface of whatever that japanese version of a deck is called. how she's selective and silent in her attachments. so introverted and determined in her actions, yet elaborate in her thought. plus she's' a little girl with big eyes, pigtails, and cute outfits. pink chopsticks. even though the film is one of those that focuses on the structure of several main characters, i doubt many would question that she's the little star. best movie i've seen in a while.

Road, Movie

this might be the first indian movie i've seen. it's awesome. reminds me of a wes anderson film. nailed a lot of what i look for in a movie. it's really nice. and pretty goofy. had a bit of that silly feel that often keeps me away from netflix's array of independent-y foreign cinema. it is not excessive and works well. fun without being stupid. the girls who wander for water are so beautiful in those bright colors. whatever about the end. it is along the lines of how [spoil]Lost in Translation[/spoil] wraps up, but does not work as well for several reasons.

definitely wanna see another dev benegal movie. but he doesn't have many, and doesn't make them too frequently. i will soon find out if netflix has the other two on dvd.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

this is entertaining, but does not delve as deep as i'd have liked. too much of a manipulated gleam, where there is clearly more. the absence of women in the film and only skirting on the subject when talking about heritage says something in itself, but not enough. that's one of many areas that felt thin or missing. like the film crew lost a lot in trying to identify, develop, and maintain their angle.

Robot & Frank

i saw this too long ago and have drank too much since to comment intelligently. the movie is fine. something to watch with your family. on the surface it's a plastic examination of trodden, complex question. that said, it leaves room to be projected onto. intentionally or not. almost has to given, given the subject.

The Giant Mechanical Man

terrible movie. about battling against disconnect in the 21st century. so many better examples. this movie adds nothing.

Supporting Characters

everyone in this movie is very unlikeable. to an extent, this is the point. they suck at life, but are trying to improve. doesn't make for an enjoyable movie. gratingly realistic. and still bland.
