2013-2014 Football Thread v.3 - Come on You Hull

Id love to see Mourinho with a small budget hou know, probably sit down and have a little cry.,

AND any United fans reading shamefull reponse in the crowd today.. felt like an arsenal game.. no passion.. stay at home.

united have such quite stadiums that they had to hire audio experts last year to try and improve the atmosphere.

arsenal games just seem quite because we keep so much possession.

i think it's gonna be a tough fight for champions league spots. should you ignore this window and miss out on champions league football, you'll have the same fate as liverpool, mark my words. moyes fired 3/4 of the backroom staff and chose not to do business last august, he needs to be held accountable.

against swansea he could have settled for a replay, but he tried to be a hero and spurred his players on to attack with 10 men down. and when i say attack i mean to hoof the ball upfield and have players aimlessly run forward like headless chickens. the result was obvious.

Haha. Is that true? And on such a small budget too.

Is Moyes the wrong man for Manchester United?

It is also worth mentioning two other things about United's current predicament, both relating to the Glazer family. The first is that a poultry farm's worth of chickens are coming home to roost given the way the Glazers have got away with doing virtually the least amount possible, year on year, to help the team, on the basis Ferguson's management strengths would always compensate. The second – and this cannot be overstated – is that the club's owners gave Moyes a six-year contract. A deal of that length is a statement in itself and it is an almighty leap of logic to assume they would even contemplate breaking it early.

Six more years! Six more years!

Football hasn't been this much fun in a long time.

A True legend of the game has been lost n not a word said . So fuk it i will .

Being a fan of Portuguese football it is very hard to ignore the death of Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, or just Eusébio .

A fan of FC Porto usually wouldn't be making any noise about the death of one of their fiercest rivals but these are exceptional circumstances for an exceptional player.

Born in Mozambique with an Angolan father , both former colonial Portuguese countries . Eusébio played for Portugal 64 times scoring 41 goals . He was top scorer in England in 1966 with 9 goals .

At club level he played for Benfica scoring at over a goal a game with stats of 618 played & 638 scored .

If you are at all interested in Football then have a look at his wiki page , you tube anything the man was incredible. So much so that the Portuguese Govt. have given 3 days off for national mourning . Respect .

I felt sorry for you guys last night, Adrian let in 11 goals in the past two games, not fair that just because a club won the Sheikh oil lottery money they get to humiliate historically bigger clubs in such fashion. Yet I have to admit, City were superb going forward, that Negredo is very talented and to think he cost less than half than Andy Carroll.

I'm also very much enjoying agent Moyes destroying Utd from within, hope they get relegated, wonder how long before all their glory hunting fans from southern england and Asia switch allegiance.

I think the hammers gave up before it had even begun though, defending was dire but saying that City were sublime they look untouchable at home.

I am willing to give Moyes another season, he has inherited a PL winning squad though I am not sure it shows just how good fergie was or questions Moyes credentials. I can say one thing though, if moyes was not scottish he wouldnt have got the job. In fergies autobiography and several interviews he goes on and on about how he sees the scots as tough, he sees himself in a younger moyes etc. Which is quite worrying, the squad has been lacking for a few seasons though and it has just really started to show now, few signings and another season and i will give judgement then.

Are you not an Chelsea fan MK? :S You can take all the glory hunting fans off our hands if you want? I think its time for United to start acting like the rest of the top clubs now and just throwing money at the problem, because if you need a quick fix thats the way to do it right.

And if that were to happen, I wonder how long it'd be before jealous, bitter fuckers stopped bitching about United's success at every opportunity and finally moved on? =D

Not a Chelsea fan man

For December!! He has already managed to lose 3/3 in January, things can only get better.

I don't think it's fair to blame Moyes for United's performance. Last season they came from behind nine times in the league, NINE TIMES, they were shipping goals left and right to relegation fodder like Newcastle and Blackburn, the deciding factor in their season was having a 25+ goals per season striker like RVP injury-free. If he had been fit this season they would be comfortably in the top-4, also the lack of Ferguson intimidating officials, it seems refs aren't scared of United any longer.

Let's face it, Fergie knew exactly when to retire, he managed a last league title thanks to a very short term buy of Van Persie and Mancini holding City back, he didn't invest in the midfield and the squad is unbalanced.

They need some major investment to refresh the squad, now that the Fergie factor is gone, in his man management and motivational skills they're not gonna squeeze uber-par performances from that lot, they need genuine class in order to compete.

What is das? You actually ever been to the emirates? Or to the etihad recently?

"Summerbee: Etihad Stadium falls SILENT in awe at City"
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.../etihad-stadium-quiet-because-awesome-6474799

At least we dont make up our reasons for being so quiet and are actively trying to do something about it, putting all the people who go and actually make an atmosphere into one section, most true fans are priced out of going to every game and it shows. Most top English grounds are quiet, we need to look at Germanys stance, cheap tickets and safe standing.

i have been to the emirates. never the etihad. i'm not interested in visiting a stadium that holds no significance to myself or football.

only brought this up because you took a cheap dig at arsenal games being quite. and you just answered exactly why. i think it's also england's hooligan phobia that won't permit stadiums to ever be as loud as they are in germany. they don't allow drums, have designated singing sections, and you get looked down upon if you stand for too long.

bayern on the other hand just refunded all their fans tickets for the game at the emirates as a token of appreciation.

and to be honest, the article you just linked has some truth to it. when you see your team dominate the football, and play well the feeling of being mesmerized almost into silence overshadows the need to be vocal. that's what i meant when i said, arsenal games are quite because we control the ball. i noticed fans are loud at two particular moments. when we're not playing well, and when we have the game done and dusted. but when you're watching wave after wave of attack you can't help but to focus on the game. i actually appreciate this sometimes, that fans know when to scream, when to clap, when to sing.

shame, seeing football in other countries actually opens your eyes to the passion other countries have... do you ever watch arsenal when they are not at the emirates? :S

Away days are the best for atmosphere, you can stand the whole game and no one is going to sit you all down, united have singing sections at home but its a shame that we even have to have it really.

These are the seats we are trying to get in the PL that german clubs use.

I suppose when your singing is confined to Arseeeeeenaallll, Arseeeeeenaalll, Arsenaaaaaaalll for 90 mins it could get boring, at least chelsea mix it up a bit.. chelsea, chelsea, CHELSEA, CHELSEA, CHELSEA, chelsea!

Bayern subsided about 60%.. something like £75,000 or about 3 days wages for a single top player. I think Bayern are going to dominate domestically though for years to come, english clubs need to follow the german ethos of not just treating there supporters like cash cows.

stadiums that hold historical significance to football in other countries ie san siro, bernabeu, estadio do dragao, etc. these are stadiums that i'd love to visit. for any game. but visiting the etihad? how on earth is that supposed to open my eyes to football. the whole football clubs only been relevant since 2010. no thanks. i'd rather keep my money in my pocket.

not only that, the stadium is shit, and so is stamford bridge. you go to the emirates and you feel like you're at an architectural work of art. the floors heat up, the pitch sucks mud and water from the grass, blows snow the other way. the stadium actually moves to block the sun. the seats are comfortable. it's actually pretty impressive. not to mention the inside is like a 7 star hotel.

another cheap dig at arsenal? you can have it though, considering these depressing times you must be going through. i suppose no one chants them louder than tourists, corporate guests, and friends of ed woodward. "united, united!", everytime they win a corner. that's an experience i'd rather not go through. i have a nice tv at home. at least then i can hear the commentators give me information relevant to the football match rather than be put off by the smell of prawn sandwiches and a tour group ranting in asian the entire match.

im still young but i still know what makes a quality football match and have been to a few, heated floors, pitch sucking mud, comfortable seats and snow blowing is neither of them, cant be bothered to respond to the rest of your pitiful take on football as i feel like im trying to have an argument with my mum who once saw david beckham on tv.

There is a lot to be said for a modern stadium where you can arrive in efficient public transport, have a comfortable seat close to the field with unrestricted views and not have to queue long for a beer/food or piss and then be able to exit all at once and get home quickly.

Traditional stadiums that creak and groan under the strain of tradition are all well and good but if you are expected to pay top dollar then their time is well past. You also want to be able to attract kids to grow your future.

that explains a lot.

but i still know what makes a quality football match

since you support manchester united, i very much doubt that.

we're talking about the overall experience of visiting a stadium. and yes the quality of the football is the priority, but visiting a cutting edge stadium is a fantastic bonus, especially if you're paying a lot of money to do it.

also. if the pitch is in great condition, the quality of the football DRASTICALLY improves. so that completely nullifies your ill thought out statement. there's a reason they have these technologies at the top stadiums in the world.

heated floors and comfortable seats? well i'm a big and tall so i'd rather sit somewhere comfortable and warm for nearly 2 hours.

you do realize that most of your [manchester united and premier league] fans come from outside of the UK? you do realize that the premier league was garbage up until the 90's when foreign managers, players, and investment came in? before then it was only the italian and spanish league's that dominated football. liverpool, were perhaps the only team of note on the european stage.

you do realize that everything that's good about the barclays premier league has absolutely nothing to do with england?

you have a laughable, yet commonly seen sense of entitlement because you pick yourself up and go to the old toilet every weekend. what i had to pay in airline tickets and hotels alone in my two visits to the emirates is probably worth a lifetime of season tickets, that doesn't make my take on reasons to visit a stadium, or opinion about football any more valuable than a fan living in kenya who's only watched football through a 15 inch crt television set. get your head out of your arse kid.

you wanna become like germany? impossible. their football clubs are owned by their fans. if that were to happened to premier league clubs, it would go bankrupt.

Traditional stadiums that creak and groan under the strain of tradition are all well and good but if you are expected to pay top dollar then their time is well past. You also want to be able to attract kids to grow your future.

exactly my point.
