There was only one album for me in 2013 really:
I never thought there'd be another My Bloody Valentine record, what with this one taking all of twenty years to be finished.
It's strange that even though most of it was written in the mid-nineties it doesn't sound dated, even though the kind of guitar / electronica crossover it features is a path well-trodden in this day and age. I suppose that's down to Kevin Shields' talent and the fact that their sound never really had the chance to go stale. It only makes you wonder what their actual new new material will sound like.
At worst, it could've been an uninspired reunion LP, and nobody would've complained all that much. Instead, they really surprised me. Great stuff.
