Opioids 3 day methadone withdrawal... what?!

So a little history first, I have been using heroin since 2008. At first it was fun, but then came addiction, stealing, and lying. Since I had become addicted to the drug I had been to 8 rehab/detox centers right off the top of my head. probably a couple more. None of them helped. At all. Then in 2012 I had pawned/sold/traded EVERY possession I had owned except some clothes and a cot that I slept on. Then in October I lost the love of my life due to our addiction (we were both very addicted). That was my rock bottom. So I decided I was DONE. I got into a methadone clinic for a while, it soon became too expensive $85 per week. So I found a doc that put me on suboxone, 16mg daily. Then my Achilles tendon got cut in half so he put me on methadone to try to help the pain. I was on 40 mg of methadone daily for about 2 months and I decided that was enough wanted to quit. So I got a hold of some xanax 3mg xr tabs so when I got those i just stopped taking the methadone and the first two days i had cold sweats and hot flashes, fatigue, no appetite but they weren't too bad due to the fact that i was eating so much xanax i would wake up in random ass places etc. but then the 3rd day, today, i feel no withdrawal effects, and I haven't even taken any xanax... i'm wondering if it's possible for my withdrawals to be over.. I don't understand how but what do you guys think?

Everyone is different but yeah it's possible. Withdrawal happens naturally with opiate dependence but there are people who experience w/ds to a very minor degree.

TAKE THIS AS A BLESSING! Use this opportunity to start your recovery off right. Most people have to start off not-using in such incredible pain it makes the experience of quitting not worth it. If you've gotten past this initial discomfort somehow you can EXERCISE and MEDITATE and EAT WELL to hopefully continue it.

Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to hear.. it's just really weird to me that I've withdrawn from heroin, oxy80's, buprenorphine.. and those were all complete hell and lasted weeks... I just don't understand how methadone, supposedly (to my understanding) has one of the hardest and longest opioid withdrawals in out there.

That's what I've heard too... All you can do is run with your good luck and help your body start producing endogenous dopamine (through the 3 things I mentioned) as quickly as possible.

oh man i've been addicted to opiates since 08' and have been through every resource i could to get clean and nothing worked... this is awesome.. I havent been clean in 5-6 years! man, am i a happy camper!

one more thing, you don't think this is just a fluke day and tomorrow i'll be feeling like shit again do ya?

It's possible, methadone and Suboxone can be weird, but I would think once you get better you should continue getting better as long as you care for your body.

well say I'm feeling good tomorrow too, would that pretty much be proof positive that the withdrawals are over?

well it worked, and yeah it's like day 4 or 5, but i'm having absolutely 0 symptoms of withdrawal.
I don't know how the hell it happened but I'm not complaining

Ok, I know this is a real piece of shit move because of the literal miracle that's happened with my lack of withdrawals, but I've never been high off bupe and I've always wanted to. I've got 31 strips of sub left over from a while ago. I want to get high on it just once and sell the rest because they go for quite a bit of $ around here... So how long would I have to wait to get high from a strip? Or, could I just take like 32mg now and get high?

You won't really feel more of a high from higher doses. Once you hit 6-8mg the only additional effects you will get from taking more will be negative ones such as anxiety, head aches, trouble sleeping, etc...

Once you have had a big habit it's hard to get high off of suboxone due to it being a partial opioid with a ceiling effect. The risk of putting you back into withdrawals is not worth the reward that is the half-assed high produced by suboxone. When I first used suboxone about 6 years ago I got a decent high from it since my tolerance was pretty low due to taking a break. Fast forward to recent months and it doesn't produce effects in me worth of being called a high. It's more of a mild opioid buzz, and will probably leave you urning for a real high.

If you are dead set on trying this then give it another 10 days to allow for the methadone to completely leave your system (you need to allow 3-4 days after your last methadone dose anyway to make sure you don't go into precipitated withdrawals) but give it more time so that it doesn't bring your withdrawals back.

Withdrawal is weird. Sometimes I can stop and not experience that bad of withdrawals, and other times I can stop with that same habit just days apart and the withdrawals are way worse. They come in waves too. I felt better on day 4 after stopping, and then on day 5 I got hit with a bad wave of withdrawals, so give it a few more days before you declare victory over this thing.

yeah i guess i won't take the sub to get high then. but I took a half strip last night just to test if my withdrawals were really over and I was fine, so i'm assuming I'm in the clear with the withdrawals.

guess I'll just be makin bank off all the extra subs ive got.

thanks guys.

How did taking half a strip show that your withdrawals were over? If anything it would just take your withdrawals away for 1-2 days which may explain why you aren't feeling any withdrawals now. The first few days you were benzod out and still had enough of the methadone in your system to keep you from getting too sick (withdrawals from mod-high doses of methadone of suboxone typically begin to peak on day 3 off of them since it takes that long for enough of the drug to be eliminated from your system to feel sick) then maybe you had a decent day and then took the suboxone which would just prolong your withdrawals for a few days.

serious? reading that just gave me a huge wave of anxiety. is there any way (beside just waiting) to know if i'm done withdrawaling?

edit: i was only taking xanax on the first 2 days and i definitely felt WD's. i didn't take benzos on the 3rd day.

We'll like I said sometimes you get off a little easier than others, and you can literally just dose a few more times and have worse withdrawals due to factors that I'm not really aware of. It takes a week before you really know if you are in the clear, so you should have a better idea of where you stand about 3-4 days after that last dose of suboxone. The half life of suboxone is around 36 hours so there's still enough of it in your system to be keeping you from withdrawals.

I don't know what else to tell you. I've had bad day 5s after feeling better by day 4, but I'm usually always significantly better by day 7.

thanks man. i guess i'll wait it out and if shit goes down i've got a bottle of 3mg xr xanax.

We'll be careful with the Xanax. Benzo withdrawal is often considered worse than opiate withdrawal, so try to use it sparingly unless maybe you are already dependent on that and have other plans with it.

Not to be rude and I'm sincerely sorry if it is. my curiosity got the best of me

But then how are you using the internet then like local library computer or somthin?

My father has an office suite that he occasionally works out of and that has become my new place of residence. It's in a building with a bunch of other suites rented out to different businesses so I have to be really low key but yeah. Pretty embarrassing but that's what it is.

And to update on this old old thread, I'm currently on Buprenorphine maintenance trying to ween myself down.
