I went to the docs about the above problem, she said try this support group if you have no luck come back to me and we will see about prescribing some suboxone (spelling?) What is the ideal taper plan for each of the above drugs? I mean maybe half the codeine and tramadol for 5 days, then half again for 5 days, then half again etc?

Or is that too quick? I dont want to start with subbys. I think halving my etizolam dose every 5 days is maybe too quick also which is why I would like some advice as I want to do this on my own.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Edit: People say benzo w/d's are worse than opiate w/ds. I have been sober from codeine for 7-8 days but then started again, it was hell. How long do benzo w/d's take to kick in? Will I get them from Etizolam? Ive been taking everyday since march.

Does subutex / subuxone help with opiate w/ds? Im pretty sure it doesnt? Doctors are shit, better of doing it your own way if you want to quit with a tapering plan in my opinion! :\

That is a wickedly high dose of codeine. Does your codeine contain tylenol, and if so, are you removing it via extraction before you dose?

Codeine linctus with no other nasties in it luckily. (UK). £££ for 600mg of pure codeine in a bottle :)

Hey leon.. and welcome to Blue Light:). You can do this you're going to be uncomfortable for awhile. The Etizolam is a benzo and cold turkey detox from a benzo can lead to seizures so this needs to be tapered or a proper medication brought on board to prevent seizures. Subutex or suboxone works like a charm for opiate withdraws but you will not go through much withdrawal but will then become physically dependent on the suboxone. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. An advantage is that it has a high affinity for the opiate receptors and so it is pretty hard to use on top of this medication. It also has long half life and this is both positive and negative. Its positive in the fact that a person can take it and the rollercoaster of the ups and downs from drug use can flatten out and a person is able to stabilize and return to a normal life. The long half life also makes it tough to detox this medication as the acute withdrawals last a really long time.

Im going to move this up to OD as they do a great job with tapers. You can do this:D

TDS--> OD

THINK
THINK!
WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS DANGEROUS. YOU'RE MIXING THESE DRUGS THAT HAVE EXTREME ISSUES WITH INTERACTIONS. EG: TRAMADOL = LOTS OF INTERACTIONS,ETC. AND AT A EXTREMELY HIGH DOSE.

If you are looking for a high, experimenting with high amounts, mixing drugs, etc IS A BAD BAD IDEA.

YOU WILL END UP EITHER DEAD,BRAIN FRIED OR IN A&E.
THINK about the future after this so called "high". you don't need it. DON'T LET addiction play around with you're brain.

FORGET ABOUT THE DRUG.
YOU TAKE CONTROL.
ADDICTION IS A PIECE OF CRAP. YOU ARE YOU, YOU'RE BRAIN AND BODY. DO NOT, I REPEAT: DO NOT LET ADDICTION TAKE OVER.

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO:
LISTEN TO ONE OF THE SONGS: http://grooveshark.com/#!/search?q=requiem+for+a+dream (NOT THE FIRST ONE).
THEN, MAKE YOURSELF an extremely healthy smoothie (lots and lots of milk and fruit). Also eat all the food until you are full.
then, take a shower with lots of lovely shampoo that make you feel calm and relaxed.
after all that, you want to do something.
WHATEVER YOU DO: DON'T BECOME BORED, BOREDOM = CAN CAUSE DRUG CRAVING,ETC.
ALSO DO NOT STRESS... CHRONIC STRESS = ADDICTION.

if all that still does not work, and you are still addicted then I would really get myself into a addiction center.

I'm sure you have good intentions but with all due respect, that post is absolute nonsense.

You've said that TRAMADOL HAS LOTS OF INTERACIONS etc... but not said what it's negatively interacting with.
You've said it's an EXTREMELY HIGH DOSE but 400mg is the recognised max dose for therapeutic use
Saying he will end up either DEAD, BRAIN FRIED OR IN A&E from codeine, tramadol and etizolam is somewhat disproportionate. Sure it's not safe but to suggest that he's going to die from it is not entirely true.

To suggest that addiction can be cured by a fruity, milky smoothie, a full stomach, lovely shampoo and a bit of music is ridiculous.

I am not saying addiction can be cured by shampoo, music, food, etc BUT if someone is in a state of 'oh should I do that drug, ohh I am going to buy some drugs', then that may help them.

it is called cravings

Oh and sleep too.
bad sleep = train reak , A COMPLETE off the wagon for the addiction, so for the LOVE OF GOD GET SOME sleep my baby.

Subs saved my life personally. As noted you will end up addicted to them and need to taper off of them. However I can tell you the W/D from subs is nothing like the W/D from real opiates. Also you are taking benzos daily like me. Sadly they too are very addicting and if you wish to quit you need a taper plan. This place is a great resource for information, but seriously consider getting professional help. Life is too short to handle this on your own and by the advice of this community. Don't get me wrong this place is full of great, knowedglable people who can help you. In fact I think profession help and bluelight together could be very beneficial for you. It's good to talk and have people who can relate listen. I personally could never do group therapy. I just have a hard time dealing with people in real life. Addiction sucks and I've found it easier to talk to people online about it then in person. It's just more comforting and feels safer to me. That's just me and I could be wrong.

I can say subs are the only way I was able to quit my bundle+ a day habit of heroin. Thankfully you are not taking as strong as an opiate as heroin. However the addiction and W/D's can be just as bad. I'd go back to that doctor or find another one that will truly listen. You NEED a taper plan and a professional willing to help. Bluelight can add to your support system and hopefully occupy you time and thoughts so you stick to the plan to quit.

You may also consider quitting one substance at a time first. I'd personally quit the opiates first and then work on getting off Etizolam. I can't imagine trying to both at the same time. I have an addictive personality and get bored very easily. Like noted, bordem will lead to the chances of you continuing the path you are on.

I wish you the best and hope and pray you can find a professional willing to help you. DO NOT give up on yourself.

I'm an addict and it's not a great lifestyle. I too need to work on getting off the drugs I'm on. It's tough, but you are not alone in this. Please keep use updated. This thread reminds me of myself and others I know or have known. I've sadly had friends die from drugs like many on here. As I get older more and more seem to die off. I don't want to be a statistic and I hope you don't either. You have done the right thing coming here for help. You see the problem and want to change. Good luck and godpspeed.

Thanks for the advice from everyone & the replies. I have taken it all on board.

You sound alot like me. I don't think i group or 1 - 1 talking would help me much, I haven't tried it yet, I just feel uncomfortable and find it alot easier online.

I have to do this, I have a daughter who is now 10months old who means the world to me, she is my motivation as it would be selfish of me to leave her without a dad. Also found out #2 will be here in around 9 months and I'm proposing this Christmas to my partner. So life is on the up, I just feel things so much easier to deal with using the drugs as the main reason for my use is stress :X

I think the way that will work for me is doing it myself, I will keep you all updated.

Thanks again all :)

Good luck. Sounds like you got a good head on your shoulders. Happy to hear you care a lot about your kids and don't want them to be without their dad. I've had friends whose addiction caused them to have their kids taken away from them and it broke my fucking heart to pieces.
