Hi

I have looked through all of the fentanyl related posts and none of them came close to answering my question. I have acquired a 25 mcg/hr Mylan (non-gel) patch. I have been taking opiates on/off for about a year now. I plan on taking this patch as directed by placing it on my skin. My concern is my tolerance is still not high enough to take it. In the past 3-4 months I have been getting high off Norco 10mg pretty much everyday. Also, have snorted boi around 4-5 times within the last 3-4 months. Anyways, Somedays I would take 8-9 at once, and take up to 16 a day. Other days I would only take 3 or 4 just to keep from wd. The problem is in the month of December I haven't taken any Norco except for yesterday which I took 8, so my question is has my tolerance gone down so much to where it wouldn't be safe to wear the patch? Does it take longer than a month for your tolerance to go down? Also keep in my I weigh around 290-295 lb(yes I need to lose weight). Can someone please help me out ASAP. Thanks

I may be way out in left field here.... but, with all the information i have from you and knowing the drug pretty well....

as long as you wear the patch and dont eat or inject the gel you'll be fine. (sorry didnt see the non gel in yr post)

if you read the box mylan is in my home state of WV.

i grew up on those patches. they are for old people who are opiate tolerant. most likely terminal cases as well.

youll get high as fuck on the patch though. keep someone you trust around in case you fall out.
these drugs are for the big boys. believe it or not im gettin h laced with this shit. this stuff will fuckin kill ya if aint careful.
but just be smart. leave it on for a hour see how you feel. keep an eye on your breathing, vitals etc. do not mix with alcohol or benzos.
not treating you like an idiot; i have lots of experience with fent. :\

your tolerance is high when it comes to hydrocodone. but, with this shit just go with the flow. if you feel fine at the 30-60 min mark after application; then go from there. but, as i said in my other post dont mix, dont shoot the shit etc. you'll be fine

Hi BigJay, and welcome! First of all, please don't think that you are immediately getting bitched at ;). One thing that we usually try to do here is to use the actual name of the drug(s) in question. For example, instead of norco, hydrocodone/APAP 10/325...That one's not a huge deal...but I have no idea what "boi" is. It may be ignorant on my part, but calling drugs by their actual name can help avoid confusion and we will all know exactly what you're talking about.
It's hard to say considering my last statement weather or not you would be ok w a 25mcg fentanyl patch. Your tolerance CAN go way down within a month's time though so I'm gonna air on the safe side ( especially considering this is a harm reduction forum) and advise you not to use it.
Hang in there, I'm sure you will get other replies, other opinions, and they could be totally different from mine.
Again, welcome!

Tolerance to opiates can go up Orr down pretty quickly. But I agree you should be good. That's one of the good things about patches if you feel it's to much you can take it off. Fetynal is the strongest opiate out there. Even stronger then heroin. So you should use care when taking it. It's a hundred times stronger then morphine. It's powerful stuff. And 80 Mgs of hydro is really not that much comrade to fet. Use caution and you should be okay

Hi Jay,

Under the watch of my doctor I have been taking Tramadol/Codeine/Dihydrocodeine for a year and Oramorph in quite high doses for 4 weeks for the treatment of pain management for a slipped disc. My doc suggested last week that I try Fentanyl patches (50mcg) as he was more comfortable in me using these than morphine. I'd say I was very tolerant to weak opioids and morphine - to the point that I could no longer get high from then when used recreationally. I put on my first patch a week ago, went to sleep and woke up the next morning and boy had it kicked in. I woke up feeling high, a very strong warm buzz and I was honestly gobsmacked. I thought it'd work for the pain, but no way did I expect to feel high on it. It's day 8 now and a few patches later and that feeling has now stopped, although it is still providing me with brilliant pain relief.

The downside with Fentanyl patches is that it can take 8-18 hours to kick in. This is the way in which Fentanyl is trans-dermatologically absorbed. This means that if you do feel high/uncomfortable on the patches, ripping it off will not result in the immediate stopping of Fentanyl being carried around your body. It can take up to 12 hours for the Fentanyl to wear off.

That said, the 25mcg patches are the smallest so I think you should be okay. I was by no means 'fucked' or out of it. I was just a little high and was wearing my warm and fuzzy opioid jacket for a week or so until I adjusted to it. You can only take my experience as subjective and anecdotal, what I experience will be different to what you experience. I just thought I'd tell you how it affected me :)

big jay, I'm not a doctor (Unfortunately), but I'll join the amen chorus here and say you'll probably be okay wearing a 50mcg on your skin, not tampering with it, and with no add-ons like weed or beer.

From what I've experienced and read, fentanyl is much less likely to provide the warm opiate buzz that the lucky previous poster has felt; it's described as "cold," not like any other opioid I've tried, really. And for once your body weight may work in your favor.

The worrisome thing is respiratory depression, so if your chest feels tight and/or you have trouble breathing, remove the patch, wash the site with water, and consult a friendly health professional. Good luck!
