A friend of mine has been on pain meds since 2007. He first took norco 10s then on to oxycodone then it and morphine. He takes him both for pain from a few bad car accidents and cause he like a good buzz every once in awhile.
Up until recently he was prescribed 180 oxy irs 30mg six times a day. He never had issues with his doctor and since moving out of state has been having issues with his new doctor cutting him down or switching his meds
He took this dose for six months some times not six a day but most of the time he as

He is now prescriped 2 30mg ir oxys a day and two 30 mg morphine ers
He allows got good pain relieve and loved the buzz from the oxys. But made sure to stop every few weeks to withdrawl as not to become addicted
Well now that hes been cut down and put on morphine hes got a problem. The morphine does nothing for him no pain relieve no buzz. Hes tried breaking the morphine ers up and swallowing them it does nothing he has snorted a few nothing which he doesnt like snorting cause hes concerned with nasal damage. So hes quit snorting anything. He even tried taking 2 at once nothing. He has even crushed them put them in alittle water and nothing.
He does not know what to do at this point. He had no thought of injecting them either.
Hes not sure if maybe since hes been taking so much oxy the morphine is not strong enough. If he should just take a few more then he is or if he needs to talk to his doctor or find a new one
Hes concerned if he ask for his doctor to switch the er morphine to extended release oxycodone he might get cut off

So what advice do you have for him. He wonders if maybe 3 or 4 would do the job. Rub the coating off break take 90-120 milgrams. Which he has taken. 60-90 mg oxy ir at once often been fine and happy

I hate to say that but Morphine have an horrible bioavailability by oral route. Its oral BA is 30% while IM, IV is 100%. Im not telling you to start IV im actually againts doing this. I feel like doctor doesnt seems to consider Morphine BA when they prescribe it.

Oxycodone is about 1,5X the strengh of Morphine at the same BA level. Oxycodone have 87% BA on oral route.

So in fact you are given something that have about 25% the potency of what you were taking before. Which is kind of ridiculous.

Agrred very much. The first discussion was er oxy then this crap. I think a doctor change is in order

The morphine ER's are too weak by half, at that dose, he would need at least the 60's.

Look up the Plugging Morphine Megathread, or send a message to Tricomb, they work best that way!

My friend took three and thinks its helping. He said hes got a nice warm feeling rollin over him and hes starten to feel that happy feeling. But to me 3 pills equals 90mgs if it tskes three to do the job even st twice a day thsts six a day in a few months it could be 8 or 10 wtf. Seems to me ghe change is to a low dose less pain relive just as dangours just as addictive medication
