Yes! Gay marriage finally legal!

Nope. Doesn't.

I am against oppression or negative treatment of people based on their sexuality, but I'm not in favour of the institute of state/church sanctioned coupling. So I can't get too excited about this.

Maybe one day I'll meet Mr Right =D

I'm excited about this because gay couples should have the same rights as straight couples. Fuck the church and all that shite.

Have done for 20 years, so...yes. In reply to knock. See what GOS says in the previous post to this for further reasoning.

Yeah, I thought that might be the issue. But then I would abolish the state, you see, so there would be no losing anything :D

Doesn't the church get the blame for that one? (no civil partnerships for straight couples?)

Remember Will Self rambling on QT about it when gay marriage was announced however many years back they agreed on it

I don't so much want to be married as much as I would like for my boyfriend and I to be each other's next of kin.

When it comes to wills, hospital treatment etc just being boyfriend and girlfriend means nothing. This is particularly an issue if one falls out with one's partner's family.

Marmz - I think the reason is, is that it would cost the tax payer loads in pensions or something like that...

Can you seriously not just go into a registry office and get married? There is no need to have a religious ceremony in Scotland. Is England and Wales really that backwards?

By that I mean the English and Welsh State, not the the English and Welsh people :D
