Nostril Destroyed by Insufflation

So basically after almost 10 years of shoving insane amounts of coke/heroin/oxy/amp up my nose, it seems one of my nostrils is down for good, or so it seems. I first noticed this a year ago, although it could have been sooner as I almost always snorted with my good nostril. I thought that maybe it would fix itself after a year but it's only gotten worse. I can breathe, barely, through that nostril, but by itself it is not open enough to supply oxygen needs. When I smoke weed and do a french inhale it weirdly only goes up the good one.

Anyone have any experience, thoughts, comments, or suggestions? I've tried using netti pots and I've been going to steam rooms almost daily, to no avail. I'm definitley going to see a doc when I can, but I'd like to hear if anyone had any success in a similar situation.

If you use something like Afrin which would theoretically open it as much as possible is it still very restricted? It might just be ringed with so much scar tissue that the only solution is surgery to widen it. You've done everything I would have suggested, the next step might be an ENT.

I agree with Felonious. If you use some nasal spray decongestants which either have oxymetalozine or phenylephrine(not sure but one is the main ingrediaent in Afrin), then after you still can't breath through it, most likely not just inflammation but an obstruction.

So I tried that today, nothing. I never thought about an obstruction, idk why. If you to an ENT Dr. Do they do nose X-rays or something. I don't know if I can afford a doc visit any time soon, I see too many already.

Well they do have that little scope to look up your nose, that should be able to see most of it. Your nose can't really be x-rayed, so fortunately your PCP or any physical doctor should be able to take a look if you mention it to them. They might just look and try to refer you to an ENT unless they see something clearly wrong (in which case they'll definitely refer you to an ENT lol). But I have no idea what a specialist will do, I'm honestly kinda curious..

^Me too kind of. A deviated septum is a possibility. Looked up the S/S's form mayo clinic and an obstruction of 1 or both nostrils is the first thing listed.

When I had first seen an ENT in 1990, he used some sort of machine to measure air flow on each side. He told me that one side was nearly completely blocked so yeah it was deviated pretty bad. Back in those days, I never snorted pills but did binge on cocaine. That didn't cause the deviated septum only made my wonky sinuses worse for sure.

I did get corrective surgery for the deviated septum and it really did help. The recovery period was brutally painful though. Hopefully by now, they have better surgical procedures. So Benny if the sinus spray gives you no relief, see an ENT and see what he says. They might be able to prescribe something for you.
