I fucking HATE the word chav and all it's connotations

here, put this on your Christmas lists please Chavs: The Demonization of the Working Class

Book Description
Publication Date: 1 May 2012
In modern Britain, the working class has become an object of fear and ridicule. From Little Britain's Vicky Pollard to the demonization of Jade Goody, media and politicians alike dismiss as feckless, criminalized and ignorant a vast, underprivileged swathe of society whose members have become stereotyped by one, hate-filled word: chavs. In this acclaimed investigation, Owen Jones explores how the working class has gone from 'salt of the earth' to 'scum of the earth.' Exposing the ignorance and prejudice at the heart of the chav caricature, he portrays a far more complex reality. The chav stereotype, he argues, is used by governments as a convenient figleaf to avoid genuine engagement with social and economic problems and to justify widening inequality. Based on a wealth of original research, Chavs is a damning indictment of the media and political establishment and an illuminating, disturbing portrait of inequality and class hatred in modern Britain. This updated edition includes a new chapter exploring the causes and consequences of the UK riots in the summer of 2010.

Owen Jones <----- well wise beyond his years

The thing that annoys me is that the middle and upper classes give themselves tiers; upper middle class, lower middle class etc. The working classes very rarely get assigned these tiers, yet they are as clear as those amongst the other classes.
Eh?

the working classes segregate themselves from each other equally as much as the other classes.

Most of the 'working' working class is right wing ... it delights in separating itself from the 'non-workers' who are usually, but not always, left wing.

I was on about how the media and academic Sociology tend to write about things. Its probably because they are mostly at least middle class themselves that the working class is some how one big alien group to them.

I'm 22% Chav!

I think 01: Have you ever shopped at Co-op, Iceland or Poundland? and Do you know any straight men who wear earings? and Are you into "R&B" or Dub Step? may have increased the % ...oh and Would you eat own brand baked beans?

Oh well I can sleep easy tonight still!
