How bad is not being able to pee on opiates.

Sometimes when I take opiates they make it so I can't pee. How bad is this, can it cause kidney damage? Also when this happens is it better to drink more water to try and "push it through" or not drink anything so as not to overload the kidneys. Also has anybody tried taking diuretics?
 
This may sound pretty lame, but sitting down to urinate can help. I've never not been able to piss whatsoever, unless there is a stage fright factor which seems to be 50x as bad when on opiates. I hate it when I know people can hear me pissing in the bathroom and I am high enough that its going to be tough to get a steady, strong stream going.

Its very unlikely to cause kidney damage anyway, the only real concern is developing an infection and that is a slim risk.

Nothing to be ashamed of, happens to me EVERYTIME I take opies, I know your not supposed to push but honestly I noticed that once you get it going, it wont stop youl usally empty your self, I cheat and push.

But lately I honestly have just started not drinking as much water or whatever your drinking because you know its going to happen, but what you can do is just drink alot of water by the time u go to bed, so that when u wake up you will take a nice long glorious piss and you can get euphoria all over again while peeing lol =D best of luck to you man, stay safe
 
I'm gonna go with RTrain and Felonious Monk - sitting down and allowing your body to fully relax usually does the trick.

I had awful urinary retention when I had kidney stones and had to be catheterised but just before that happened, wetting my hands and adding a fast running tap to sitting down did the trick.

This is a very frequent side-effect of opiates of and benzodiazepines. These drugs effect the micturition pathway in renal system, which makes it hard to urinate. Diuretics such as caffeine will help to a certain extent but stronger stimulants will actually increase the urinary retention. There is really little you can do and a vast majority of the time urinary retention is harmless. If the retention does not improve and remains untreated it can cause severe bladder and kidney damage. Really the only thing you could do to immediately relieve your symptoms would be catheterization, which seems unnecessary lol.

I have the exact problem too mate. Sit down like a real man and relax once you start going there's no stopping you!

It doesn't hurt to push your just trying to open your eurethra(spelling) that's contracting shut. So your fighting your body at the same time. Hope you relieve yourself mate ;)
 
when im on MDMA its almost impossible for me to pee..sometimes on opiates to..but dont stand peeing..sitt down on the toilet and it will come..i sat for 1.5 hours and then i pours :P hehe
 
used lyrica + oxycodone mix once...heaven..but hard to pee...even just on lyrica can cause some pee problems :P
 
Do you guys think diuretics would make it easier to pee or just make problems worse?
 
ive had this problem even had a friend think he was going to have to go to the hospital to get a catheter to relieve himself. just go to sleep and worst that can happen is youll piss yourself, if you absolutely cannot go after days, you need to seek medical attention.
but to answer your question, as long as youre not an old old man, your body should be ok. listen to RTrain and sit down/nod off. sometimes running water helps...
Also remember your bladder is a muscle, relax it ;)

Honestly it's just a muscle that's tensed up not opening to let your piss out. Sit down turn the sink on low and wait. If you don't go try and sleep. You'll wake up and fill the toilet. No problems will occur and you'll be fine. Close your eyes and push. Imagine the piss flowing out of your vagina.
 
Yeah, sitting down definetely helps me too in that situation, often I'll also turn on a little drip from the wateroutlet over the wash basin as well.
 
funny you ask just the other day i indulged in a little under 200mg of ir morphine sulphate and holy shit dude i couldnt piss for 2 days im not fucking with you. when i finally could that shit came out in spats. word to the wise people.... piss before you dose.

Aint that the truth.

Like delirium I have the same problem with MDMA, except its worse than opiates. I can literally be on the toilet 30+ minutes. Opiates I can usually get a stream goin after a minute or so of pushing, relaxing and breathing.
