Opioids Question regarding smokable heroin and proper techniques.

Hey everyone. I've recently acquired what I believe to be #3 heroin in rock form. The bag consists of small tan, almost brown, hard rocks. After doing a bit of research I've found that this seems to be heroin meant for smoking. My dealer also mentioned that most of the people he was selling this to have been smoking it. BUT, I've also read that smoking anything other than tar is a waste and I should just snort it. The last heroin I had was a fine tan powder that smelled strongly like vinegar (acetylation, I assume) and I snorted this. I couldn't really tell if it was working well or not since it was my first time and I have a huge tolerance from poppy tea. I had to do the whole 200mg to get a high and it only lasted about an hour so I was pretty underwhelmed (especially because of the price of it!).

I don't really want to waste this snorting it, especially if it's meant for smoking, so does anyone here have any experience smoking tan, rock heroin? And what are proper chasing techniques?

Definitely do not snort it. Base heroin like that is made to be smoked or IV'ed.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I've never chased anything before though and I'm reading that it's very wasteful if you don't know how to do it and very difficult to do by yourself. Would it still be worth it to try? The shit is SO expensive out here...

It's more wasteful if you are trying to smoke dope that really isn't made for that, like east coast powder. Black tar and freebase are much easier.

Obviously good technique is going to make it more efficient. Most people use tin foil, (make sure you burn off the chemicals first on it), apply light flame from the bottom, and inhale the vapor through a tube. If you google around and search on BL, you'll find plenty of good smoking techniques.

Thanks man, I've been reading up a bunch on it but it seems like it's no substitute for trial and error. I'm trying tiny chunks with the help of a candle and using a toilet paper tube but I still don't know if I'm doing it right. It could be many variables too, like the quality, my tolerance or improper technique. I definitely get the "beetle" blob running and it seems like the smoke starts up as soon as it starts to run. I feel like my lung capacity maybe isn't large enough cause I inhale till I can't possibly inhale anymore (which also makes it so I can't hold it in very long, 10 seconds max) but there's still a bunch left. How do I know when it's done? And what does it taste like? For me it tastes like absolute shit when I exhale, terribly bitter and it coats my mouth so I can still taste it for a while after.

Sound right?

EDIT: I'm also not exhaling any smoke, which is concerning...

Edit Again: Ive figured it out now. Just takes a few times but I have a lovely buzz going on. Sad that it took the whole 200mg which was waaay more expensive than it was worth but oh well. Thanks again for the help, you can close this now

It's not your lung capacity it's because you are using a toilet roll! think about the volume of air to smoke in your inhalation, you need to use something with a pen sized diameter. right now your prob hitting it and running out of breath and the ron is still smoking, stop applying heat before you stop inhaling. you'll get there boss.

try taking a breath with your mouth wide open as opposed to through pursed lips and you'll see what I'm getting at.

Yeah dude, you're using the wrong inhalation tool. Hollow out a pen if possible, if not then roll up some notepad paper into a tube roughly the size of an empty pen, maybe a touch bigger, no more. If using rolled up paper apply tape.

Learning how to "chase the dragon" without wasting is not easy. There are people who never get it, and it used to kill me sharing my smack with them, even if they were paying for it. Watch a bunch of videos on youtube until you think you have the idea, then start with very, very small pieces of your heroin, for practice. Get used to the way the stuff puddles up, the speed with which it runs down the foil. I've only smoked BTH, so I can't comment on your stuff, but I imagine the smoking technique would be the same. Also, make sure you hold the smoke in, as if you were smoking herb. Don't treat it like crystal smoke that you have to expel ASAP. And make sure you turn the flame off well before you want to stop inhaling smoke, no need to keep your shit burning when you're out of breath. Good luck, hope I helped.

And depending on the amount of poppy tea you were consuming (and your piss-poor smoking technique--no offense, you just don't know better yet) I'm really not surprised you're finding the H underwhelming. By the way, you shouldn't be using a candle. Use a butane lighter, they burn cleaner, hardly any smoke. When you use a candle you will be inhaling all that burnt wick and wax.

Yea definitely agreed your tube is way to big u need something small in order to get proper suction you cant create a good amount of pressue with that tube

Exactly. Ideally you want something with a circumference equal to or less than your thickest finger. Otherwise you'll be filling up your lungs with air instead of that sweet, sweet vinegar-tasting smoke.

I dunno, this was all shit I read from heroinhelper.com or whatever. Honestly, I started with using a pen and I found that I wasted way more smoke with a pen than I do with a toilet paper roll. Like I said the last couple chunks I smoked hit me pretty good It just took most of it to learn how to get it to run, learn to run the inhaler somewhat behind the beetle (where I found most of the vapor kicks up, just behind it) and inhale slower but next time I'll try with a somewhat thicker straw. Compromise. As for smoking wick and wax, I don't plan on doing it often enough to worry too much about that. Besides, I'd be scared of knocking a zippo over :s

EDIT: Sorry, I just had one more question. If it starts to bubble, is it too close to the flame? Because I can't really seem to get it to run until it starts to bubble a bit. First it melts into a light brown/golden color but it doesn't seem to really start producing smoke or anything until it starts to bubble a bit. I don't mean like crazy bubbling or fizzling or anything, just a light bubble.

It could be that your gear isn't smokable H, China White or #4 will simply bubble and char.
I've only smoked BTH so when you apply the flame it bubbles a tad and then runs, it's been a few years but as it runs it bubbles an smokes.
However too much heat is no bueno, try to get a adjustable bic type lighter and put it on a low setting, you don't want a full force flame.

Other things to remember is to use NEW foil , even slightly crumbled foil will have holes in it and that will scorch your gear.
Take a fresh piece of foil give it a wipe down and lightly smooth out .5cm a line where you want it to run, try to have your foil in a bit of a V shape and have it tilted downwards this will help it to run and also funnel the vapor upwards to your straw.

when your lighting your foil don't have the flame directly under the gear but a bit (a few cm) away from it where you want it run and then move the flame down the foil as the gear starts running.

That sounds like exactly what I did. Thanks man. And yeah, it's not #4, I'm sure of that. It melts into a lightish brown then turns dark brown as it runs and I let it bubble a little bit. I would do one full inhale as it runs in one direction, then another as it runs in the opposite direction. Would get 4 or 5 good hits per "chunk".
