Is kratom an opioid?

Is it technically an opioid? I know it behaves like one, and has opiate receptor binding affinity; but is it technically an "opioid"? I thought not but someone claims it is. So I'm not sure atm.

First you say yes to my question, but then you call it an "opi8" implying opiate, which it is most certainly not.
 
Man this crap is going to get banned if it keeps blowing up like this. It's already bad enough.....I'm not talking about you guys in general. I'm just talking like we have all discussed it and you know big brother is watching.
 
Damn I read MA, my home state is already in the process of trying to push through a bill to illegalize it. I don't even really like the stuff, but I think the clock is ticking on it being a risk free shipment to your household.
 
I know News channel Four has already done a story about it and there are only seven vendors smoke shops in the city where you can find it and only one sells a skimpy 30 grams for a lot of money......It just shouldn't be banned....It is harmless and helps those who need to get off opiates and sub's, methadone stuff like that. My left should has been broken twice and it helps that pain.
 
Any drug that affects the opioid receptors is an opioid or opiate.
Even antagonists like naloxone are classed as opioids.
Mitragynine (sp?) and its derivitives are also opioids.

I'm more concerned about the headshops selling it than I am about people discussing it on a forum. As a kratom user it makes me cringe when I drive by a headshop and the asshats have a sign on the sidewalk advertising liquid kratom.

And a moron behind the shop counter telling everyone that X drug is awesome! You will be well high!. But has no actual experience or knowledge to back up his imparting of legal high wisdom....idiots like that spoil it for the rest of us.
