Had many strolls round sale waterpark, all thats its good for eh? :D

Acoustics are not as good, sounded better under the arches, however all this fuss about lack of space is silly, WHP has always been cramped it started in a tiny corrugated iron barn in a brewery, and they probably do sell too many tickets but it's big money. Yeah there isn't much space between rooms but I had plenty of room to dance, even got on my mates shoulders for Doctor %)

Overall it's only a venue I'd go for a really special artist, and do prefer the last one, but from some of the chat I was hearing it sounded like you couldn't dance at all in the new one which turned out to be untrue

Easier to get a ticket. Room 1 is actually decent if you can be bothered pushing through the crowd for 5 minutes to get to the front, there is loads more room down the front and generally a better atmosphere. Rooms 2 and 3 seem to have a better crowd, more like the 'old' WHP before you got birds turning up in stilettos and dresses and weekend warrior types. Room 3 was personally my favourite on the nights I went to. Didn't really notice much hassle from the door staff once you were in.

Queue for the cloak room is fucking stupid, chill out area isn't anywhere near as good, smoking area is great although the system of having to walk all the way round to get back in is pretty annoying. Toilets are much better although the one way system they have employed can also be pretty annoying at times, trying to get from room 1 to room 3/2 via the mens toilets can sometimes get a bit rowdy.

There seems to be loads of thieving cunts in there, at Metropolis I knew 8 girls and 4 of them got their phones lifted out of their handbags, including my gf. I think they eventually blocked off the direct route between 2 and 3 which kind of improved things a bit.

The old venue had more charm and character but the new venue is allowing for a nicer variety of acts to be put on with the extra room. Ultimately they just grew out of the old place, they are trialling a few smaller nights in January (rooms 2 and 3 only) so I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up running all year round in the near future. Seems almost identical to what they did at Store Street with the Lost weekends parties before making the move to store street, a trial run before commiting to a large amount of dates.

I had probably the best night i've had at WHP for the last couple of seasons in the new venue.

Ah yes forgot about the queue to the cloak room, insane, and the smoking area is MUCH better, before you just had to sneak your cig/doob in the crowd there was so little space outside

Now reported to be the most linguistically diverse city in Europe, with 153 languages spoken among its half a million inhabitants. English may still be heard in remote pockets.

I think a little less security is good, definitley felt like there was less, no hassles inside and a quick search at the door with there daft dog. I think its due to not being so centrally to manchester in the middle of everything. que for the cloakroom was a joke, had to describe what it was like really in such a state, seemed to be bars everywhere I went, saw a few people pissing in the mens sinks thinking they where urinals.. they do look alike and when your fucked lol

Atleast its good theyve got proper toilets, as good and "discreet" as them portaloos where needing a come up shit and having to squat over them things where horrible. The main room seems huge, think I prefer the 2nd room its a bit more personal.

I'm from the lovely seaside resort of Blackpool.

Anyone who's seen 999: What's Your Emergency? will know that I am being sarcastic ;)

Been to WHP 3 times this season, first saw bloc party in main room only and was really impressed, then went to metropolis, was really looking forward to it but was insanely rammed, couldnt even get into the main room and far too many pissed up young girls barging about, probably the style of music attracting a far younger crowd, room 2 was alot better that night although do prefer the lighting system in main room! Ended up leaving that night quite early as had had enough couldnt relax so the little fellas wernt kicking in as would have liked!!

Finally went to the resident advisor night mainly to see Orbital but was blown away by few other dj's that night especially the guy on before orbital, think was called Apparat, crowd was a little older and alot more clued up, had prob the best night out ive had all year that night!

i do like the venue aside from costs of getting to and from, cant compare to store st as never went but did go the original boddies one and its way better than that but honestly think the best warehouse do was teh one sankeys did down ancoats road before they knocked them down, cracking night that was!!

I went to WHP in November and it was a decent night. The heavy police presence at the door freaked us out a bit though. Does anyone know if those wrist bands the hotel next door give you allow you to leave the venue and come back as you please?

I've been hearing about a few warehouse parties going on over the last couple of months at a 'secret' location. Promoters like Selective Hearing and Project 13 have apparently been holding nights there (maybe more than one location?) anyone have a clue where this venue is?

Last one I went too was at 2022NQ, fuck knows where the next one is, why its a secret I guess. More than 1 location I think though..

I would be surprised if they were at any actual warehouses.. more likely just small venues, Gorilla, soup kitchen.. south etcc...

I've just got a new flat in fallowfield, used to live in didsbury but due to expenses and such I've relocated. Going to have a massive candyflip binge once I move back properly next month if I find any decent nights to go to, though I hate going out in the center of manchester.. everytime some scum bag tries to sell me shit drugs, you know the one's who hang out on the periferies of the smoking area at any club in town I always out of curiosity want to take a look at what they're selling and pretty much always end up telling them their drugs are shit and end up getting in a confrontation, I should learn to keep my mouth closed and just say "no" to anyone who offers me anything.

yeah the street dealers in the city centre tend to be very shady. I sometimes get asked "Yo!, you after anything bro ?", usually when Im trashed and more likely to be foolish enough to be tempted. When i first moved to manchester i made the mistakeof buying "speed" off one of thes guys. It certainly wasnt speed, but it got me so fucked i couldnt even talk. There might be some kosher ones there but i suspect they arent so open about advertising their wears. I know of certain parts of town where you can go to pick up very heavy shit. Just as likely to hand over my dosh and get a knjife pulled on me and told to fuck off so i havent really explored that avenue. Not even in my car. Though im sure one day I'll have a cruise around to see whats what. Just as there seems to be an inbult "gaydar" for some people there seems to be drugdar in that people can spot you. I allways used to get asked all the time in my youth and eraly 20s if i wanted any weed. I only did that once , before i moved in to live with some of the best dealers in town, and i wasnt into it at that point anyway as it just made me paranoid as fuck.

From what I can see the secret venue nights are bring your own booze so I doubt they are held at a city centre bar/club. Sounds like some kind of unlicenced warehouse.

Did you ever go to any of the parties at downtex? I thought that place had potential to be alright, never heard from the organisers of that since.
