SEATTLE -- Despite the recent legalization of recreational marijuana in Washington, Seattle police want to remind everyone that thrift stores can't resell donated bags of pot.

The department released a lighthearted press release on Friday to remind the public of the rules after employees at a thrift store in North Seattle found a large bag of marijuana in the donation bin.

In the release, police say "Donating to thrift shops is a terrific way to give a second life to your well-loved Velcro sneakers, keyboards or flannel zebra jammies," but they say tires, soiled mattresses, laptops and bags of weed are not welcome.

A thrift store employee called police Thursday afternoon to say he found a garbage bag containing 2.5 pounds of pot in the store's donation bin.

Police confiscated the marijuana and put it into evidence for destruction.

All in good heart right. You could make quite a bit of money off that.
To bad it got handed over to the police hopefully after alot was taken before there arrival. I wish some one would donate that much weed my direction.

Or maybe give the weed its own section for sale in the store. Be one way to rack up some customers!

Shit I wish they were being cool like that here in Colorado... They "legalized" it but now they're trying to put penalties in place that are worse than when it was illegal but decriminalized...

If that happened here in Denver, the cops would be conducting a full scale investigation to capture the person responsible and then their source and so on.

Good on Seattle!

With quality weed, if I smoke as much as I want to, I go through a gram a week.
I am a lightweight, and don't enjoy being high 24/7 - just for 5 or 6 hours at the end of the day.
So, since 2.5 pounds = 1134 grams, it would last me almost 22 years :)

smoking the same weed gets old quick. more than likely i would take qp-lb and either sell the rest or trade it for different strands....assuming this was some quality weed and not some bobby brown

wow, i could have smoked on that for years. im not even kidding. tho i would get tired of th ame strain. prob trade a bunch out or make oil (have someone make oil) trade for other things. i mean around here that could fetch close to 5 figrues.
