Yay. I know the critics hate them. Fuck the critics. They are awesome live, their singer is brilliant with crowd reparte, better than any other up and coming/not quite making it yet band; one gig in manchester some drunk shouted out "juhfufguygfu" and he said "sorry sir all i heard was jkjhkjuyggiu". Some other wit in the crowd said "thats what he said". Ah you had to be there. He was also talking about how hed noticed the tickets for the gig being sold at 5 times their face value on ebay. He said perhaps we should start playing in bigger venues, everyone shouted No. :D

I suspect and hope they are a lot bigger in america than they are here. I felt sorry for the guy in the first of their gigs i went to, he was shocked and surprised "how do you guys all know all our music allready ?". I couldnt quite bring myself to say "weve all downloaded it". He seemed a bit naive. He must have cottoned on eventually. The girl who plays violin for them is very sexy too.

Aye I saw them at Reading (2009 I think). They're not an intellectual band, they're not a deep band, they just write good indie songs that have a bit of a folky vibe about them without being pretentious. They're not a band that I would start a conversation with, but they're good.

Their violinist is hot, yeah ;)

yeah maybe its me but she doesnt look so great in that pic, you dont get to see the short skirt for one thing lol. maybe this one is slightly better one of her. There's a lack of good pics of her on page 1 of google images. They completely fill one page of google images, do you reckon that means they are quite big now ? They certainly got a lot of publicity when pitchfork gave their album a total slating and the singer wrote a message back to them about their harshly dismissive review.

They've been getting steadily bigger since the first album. I think they're on their third now (?), I've only heard the first two.

I imagine it was more of the same though...I bet that's what they got slated for.
 
Really ? Shit ive got some catching up to do. Ive only heard the first one though IIRC they started playing some new songs in their later gigs that i didnt immediately like so much.

No, their first album got slated cos pitchfork reckoned they were just ripping off The Strokes. I dont really agree with that, its like saying starsailor are ripping off the verve, they are simillar but uniquely different bands IMO.

I agree to a point, but there are some similarities. Despite the reviewer apparently having an off day the fuss caused by the bands singers reply to the review backfired on pitchfork, it created a lot more publicity for the band than pitchfork seemed to want.
