overcoming gym awkwardness

lol I had to skip arms and opt for chest today because I had a few cats posing off in front of the damn mirrors... ugh

A lot of gyms offer a complimentary session with one of their trainers. Or at least someone to show you how to use all of the different machines. You should ask at the front desk, or just try bringing up the fact that you're new to the gym and you're wondering if someone could train you on the equipment.

Word

I haven't read every post in this thread, but yea.. when I joined a gym the first time in high school it was semi-hardcore free weights based, but had machines as well. Dude gave me a overview and a total body workout to do with several machines.

Most people couldn't care less about some new guy, regardless of their physical condition. Good to know some basic gym etiquette though. Most of it is pretty much common sense... bring a towel or use a provided gym towel if you are going to sweat all over the machine or something lol.... Yes. Get one of the gym workers/trainers to give you as much help as you need. It's part of your membership fees.
