Heroin Double vision and heroin

I know I have read PE is a common finding in many heroin OD survivors. But I believe I read it is not exactly known why this is the case, as heroin is not known to affect breathing through the pulmonary system but rather the CNS. Heavy quinine cut could be a good explanation.

I'm going to research it and see if I can find the studies/articles I found this info in before.

wierd that I don't get this on opiates. But i always get it on DXM, MXE, Ketamine, etc which have opiod properties.

What's up guys; this is my first Bluelight post, but I have been lurking in the forums for a while now. I have learned a whole heaping of knowledge on harm reduction and just chemicals in general from you guys. I would just like to thank all of you who contribute to this wonderful community.

Okay now on to the topic at hand. IME with opiods over the past 7 years, whenever I would take a decent dose I would always get cross-eyed when I focused on something. It's not that bad unless I'm driving. (I don't know how I made it home some nights.) I also get these effects when I take a good dose of gabapentin (around 3000 mg's) when I'm laying around watching TV. Benzos also may give me the cross-eyed effect but I can't really remember haha.

The reason for pulmonary edema in cases of opiate overdose is because of heart failure, severe allergic reactions (From the heroin or the quinine and a combo thereof) and/or upper airway obstruction... All can happen in street opiate overdose.

Plain old IV morphine can do the same thing in overdose...

This is also the reason you can't iv codeine derived drugs and some morphinans safely at any dose without medical attendance.....

Yeah that's normal when you reach nodding dosages.

I've never been able to try heroin, but a large dose of Dilaudid would give me a wonky eye lol...not really double vision but more like one eye wonders to the side or something lol.

Never looked in a mirror while this is happening lol I feel too damn good, but it's not serious.

Just be careful and make sure you don't take too much...if i'm nodding it means I took too much...haven't truly nodded in about a year! But I like to do stuff when im opied up though although a majority of the time i'm just laying down with my eyes closed searching my skull for the nod, but I usually don't get much more of a nod then marijuana would provide...

Kinda more like meditation than a nod really, I don't consider it a nod unless I have trouble keeping my eyes open and have dreams just when I close my eyes...and I could pretty much do this while standing up. Now that's a nod..

And I almost always combine my dose of opiates with a low dose of alprazolam (.5-1mg) so that could contribute.

But yea I mainly get it after opening my eyes when they've been closed for a few minutes and I try to look at the t.v. or something.

Interesting you say that about the eye drifting because that is exactly what I witnessed my eye doing in the mirror. I would seem like my eyes are crossing b/c i am seeing double, but in actuality one eye is looking where it should and the other is pointing out like 30 degrees to the outside. Did you actaully see this happen in the mirror or do you just feel that is what is happening?

I too take alprazolam, I have developed a small habit on top of my H habit, really trying to cut it loose, though.
