Lou Reed dead?

Not heard too much - I'm familar with him mainly through Lester Bangs writing on him. I think Lester quotes him as saying "I wouldn't shit in Lester Bangs nose".

Very sad news. May he rest in peace.

On the other hand, all his old recordings are still around; on records, cassettes, CDs, the Internet and no doubt a few reel-to-reel tapes in forgotten corners of attics. So at least we can all go and listen to our favourite Lou Reed / Velvet Underground tracks. (Those of you who haven't got a favourite Lou Reed or Velvet Underground track: Go and discover one for yourselvesnow. Except you probably wouldn't be reading this thread anyway if you hadn't.)

Fucking gutted.
I'm not one for giving a shit about 'celebrity deaths', but I'm truly sad about this.
Lou was an incredible artist, and a pretty amazing survivor. Few people in the 60s or 70s would have expected him to live as long as he did. What a life it was. RIP Lou.

So strange to wake up in a world without Lou Reed. Like many people, I just expected him to go on forever. I suppose people took him for granted in that way.

I got into the Velvets at around the same age I started getting in to drugs (surprise surprise) and they just took you somewhere really cool that no other band seemed to be capable of doing. Lou's stayed with me ever since.

I listened to Take No Prisoners on Friday evening all the way through. Somehow it seemed important to follow it to the end. I'm glad I did.

What a shame, but thanks Lou.

RIP. Was brought up on the Velvet Underground as my dad was a huge fan. :(

fuckin ell, wish my parents were that cool, my mum likes cliff richard, my stepdad likes tina turner, and my real dad doesnt like 'popular music' at all, he likes kind of 1940s songs. So embarrasing. Actually im not sure if i wish my parents were more cool, id not have had anything to rebel against then.
