[original TT: Has anybody ever personally come across store bought mushrooms] ...that had had LSD dropped onto them?

Do you mean dealers selling regular mushrooms with lsd dropped on them as magic mushrooms? I have heard of cases were shady dealers would drop some random rc on store bought mushrooms and sell them but highly doubt they would do that with lsd since if they had lsd they would just sell it as lsd.

It happens as often as someone selling you tobacco with PCP and being told it's weed. If you can't tell what mushrooms look, smell and taste like you should probably quit. Getting burned on pills or acid or even a powder is one thing, getting ripped off on mushrooms is sad. Mushrooms are abundant and cheap and easy to grow, selling fakes sounds counter intuitive.
LSD on store bought mushrooms is a drug war lie spread by cops.

For argument's sake, it sounds profitable to me. Mushrooms are *no price discussion* [more expensive than LSD per dose].

But a normal hit of acid shouldn't get you near as high as an eighth of mushrooms>
An eighth of potent mushrooms knocks me on my ass

One night, I ran into a dude who was a novice tripper. I'm talking bout RCs, and he offers me some "shrooms" he bought, saying they were weird but active, suspecting maybe an RC was dropped on them. I knew immediately by the look it wasn't a Psilocybe, and really tasted like a 2C. I did trip, maybe 6-8hrs, really felt like a 2C (not a NBOMe, straight swallowed).

I did have a buddy dose some mushies with L. *Again, no price discussion*. Same guy came to me as his guinea pig, and several times I could tell the shroom chocolates he bought were 4-sub-tryps.

Would LSD become denatured on a fungus though?

Just make mushroom tea. The heat will destroy the LSD so you can know for sure if the mushroom high is authentic or not.

Mushrooms and acid together sounds nasty, but I've never done it.

The heat would surely accelerate the degradation, but you can't be sure all of it will be gone. I've read several TRs of people ingesting (knowingly or not) acid by dropping it in hot coffee.

<grandpa ranting>Aah, back in the days, it was possible to buy cubes (and not just truffles) in stores in the Netherlands.</grandpa ranting>

yeah but I live in amsterdam and the truffles are just fine :) you have to eat a little bit more but it's still psilocybin, so it's the same type of trip as normal shrooms

Changed the thread title and opening post to make the TT less misleading. And guys, no price discussion - read the rules. Thnx!

I'm sorry, somehow I got it in my head that price discussion wasn't allowed with RCs, but that it didn't matter for street drugs.

more profitable to sell them store bought mushrooms, sans LSD

For some reason I just can't see this happening, maybe there's a dealer silly enough to do this, but it makes no sense...

For a start, there would be some key missing factors. Generally speaking, psychedelic mushrooms either taste like a sort of nothing blahness, or have a very bitter taste that you can identify. They don't taste like a button mushroom, which is more "meaty" for a lack of a better word and much easier to eat raw. The same with another fresh psychedelic mushroom indication: blue bruising and purple spores. This is *not* a universal indicator of a psychedelic mushroom, but my guess is the common psychedelic mushroom varieties that dealers sell (such as cubenis) would have this characteristic. Button mushrooms in contrast bruise brown and have dark brown-black spores.

The second issue is just the practicality. Mushrooms are really easy to grow, way easier than making a pure chemical. In terms of price, I always thought that reflected the bulky nature of shrooms more than anything else (harder to transport and conceal). Sprinkling RCs on button shrooms doesn't solve that issue.

Button mushrooms? Some stores sell a wide variety of mushrooms, many of which are much better candidates. Why would you speak of button mushrooms?

Also, the type of person this would be done to would be ignorant about magic mushrooms.

I think this would've happened more in the late 60s/70s when knowledge of magic mushrooms was pretty much zilch. Now you can just look on the internet you'd need to be pretty fucking stupid to buy store mushrooms as magic. But, as they say, never underestimate the stupidity of a teenage tripper.

Because they are the most common mushroom and the cheapest.

Most of the other store varieties taste *better* than button mushrooms anyways, eg mature buttons (portobello or cremeni), shiitake, oysters, chanterelle, etc.

Of course, never underestimate the stupidity of a teenage tripper I guess.

I have heard of amanita muscaria going around. This type of mushroom is not psilocybin oriented and reportedly produces a 6-8 hour trip that appears (from the reports) to be a cross between being drunk and getting dissociated visions. Perhaps if someone was sold this as a "magic mushroom" and not as muscaria, they'd think that they got an "RC" for all I know.
