Found out that my rental property had been robbed today - fuckers stole everything that could be picked up. It was fully furnished so they had a pretty decent haul, fridge, washing machine, microwave, sofa, tv, bed, all furniture, paintings, rugs right down to the knives and forks :D.

Person used a set of keys so probably an ex tenant or one of the contractors who do the maintenance etc. Thankfully there was only a small amount of damage where they tried to take the fire surround off the wall so no major repairs are needed.

What a ball ache
 
Ouch. That's shit Bear. Nicking a Tv for a fix is one thing, trying to jemmy off the fireplace after you've nicked the cutlery is something else.
 
Took the paintings/mirrors off the wall, knives forks, plates, pans, vacuum, kettle, double bed, all furniture (sofa, wardrobes, chest of drawers, pc table) washing machine everything :D.

Marms its a strange feeling - yeah financially its a couple of grands worth of 'stuff'. I can replace it no problem at all - the thing that has really annoyed me is its by a key holder. Every tenant has my email address, a contact telephone number, a number incase of emergency and I have never had a problem with them skipping rent one month, paying rent over a few months, even paying half rent for Christmas etc. My tenants for the last few years have been students - they know that 'anything' they want / need for the flat I have done on the same day or they can do it themselves, provide me with a receipt and deduct the cost from the rent (not an issue).

Just feels like big piss take tbh.
 
That really doesn't sound like students. They wouldn't be arsed to lift a washing machine for a start, heavy bastards they are.

I popped in to see my last tenant, just on a routine visit - she was lovely, I took a female friend with me so this girl wouldn't be worried about letting a random guy in her house etc. Gave the place the once over and left - she contacted me later asking if she could paint the place. I offered to send in decorators but she wanted to do it her self! I bought the paint and paid her for doing it so doubt it was her.

Just left me with a bad feeling :(
 
Sucks to hear that, Bearlove. I guess you can only hope that whoever took the stuff really really really needed it. :(

I don't care about the financial costs - its more a case of mistrust by a keyholder. The last tenant was perfect and I do not for a second think she was to blame, there are two other parties that have keys - estate agent, my mate. The estate agent called me as they were trying to move a tenant in and found the flat stripped (not them) - I had a safety inspection done on the place a few weeks ago - so had to release the keys to a contractor.

Yeah I have a string of previous tenants - but my last tenant was in for a year and a half so the previous ones would have to had a great memory, planning to just appear with a removal van etc.

I know its an expensive do, but cant you change the locks each time you get a new tenant, which at least narrows the field down a bit when looking for the culprits
 
aww man, fuck that, decent people dont deserve to be robbed blind like that!
