Indian summer? I wish, it's not baltic but it's only about 12-13 degs here. Single digits forecast for next week. Gets dark at about 6pm, which means I'm seeing 4 hours of daylight, and I'm only seeing what creeps under my blinds. Need to get out and expose myself, but how :? My stairs seem so extensive.

You're not too old to re-train for a new career Knock if thats what you want. I think Im a couple of years older than you, my KW is a few years older than me, and she wants to re-train. If you complete it by the time you're 55 you've still got at least 10 years left to work, and tons of valuable experience, training and knowledge. Energy and motivation can be a problem if you sink into any kind of rut though. :\

I diasagree that you get better looking as you age, maybe you are in your case, but i was much more of a hit with my youthfull good looks than i am now. Maybe a bit of lack of confidence and loosing a lot of the arrogance of my youth has also played a part. Girls seem to like confident, even arrogant, egotististical fellas, a more level headed and grounded fella doesnt seem to be quite so interesting to them.

Yeah I know (pretty sure you're the same age as you though :D Yes child of '73 here) but whenever I think about applying for courses it always seems to be hitting up against the deadlines. Suppose I should start looking now!

What I really want to know, though, is: will BHM, in light of the facts, revise his stereotype of lazy disabled black lesbian single mothers (probably communists) living in detached houses with no insulation on idyllic council schemes? at massive personal expense to him?

I forgot fat.

Some women just seem to prefer men in their 40s. My second-year English teacher was an attractive 20 something who used to go on and on about how she fancied men in our (current!) age bracket, though she also specified the wearing of suits, which is not so great.

She may just have been attempting to stem the tide of spotty, awkward 14 year olds spilling their our seed at the merest glimpse.

My third-year English teacher, a rotund, hairy pipe smoker in his 40s, used to tell us that the most attractive girls often fell for the quieter, less assertive boys, as they are constantly bombarded with crude approaches and thus appreciate a lower arrogance level.

Maybe English teachers are just wishful thinkers.

It does make sense though, what good will it do society to give an educated person a custodial sentence for possesing drugs. :! If that happened that person probably wont be able to get a job again for the rest of his life, and all the contributions he could have made would come to nothing. Plus that person will be a drain on tax payers money for the rest oftheir life in the form of income support and housing benefit. :|
?

What good does it do society to lock up an uneducated person for possession? Why is it worse for an educated person? I suppose you might be thinking that an educated person "contributes more to society", however I don't think that's necessarily, or even generally, the case. I don't particularly want to turn this into a philosophical debate, but let's just say that I think there is more social good, and more essential good, provided by agricultural workers, truck drivers and bartenders far more than those of fund managers, marketing executives and accountants. We could cope quite easily with a graphic designer's strike (no offence to graphic designers, who are frequently talented and skillful, and often contribute to making life more pleasant; it's just that the social role is not particularly crucial).

It would be particularly unhelpful if nurses and surgeons were getting locked up. But in fact they are at risk of losing their jobs if they're merely convicted... I think it's a dead cert on a second conviction.

Most of the educated people I know work in IT for financial companies, it might be a good thing to have some of them locked up for a couple of years :D

yeah, i wish i was teaching science again. However, i have decided i think far too much and though of a neat solution to the problem, i will get a man and he can do my thinking for me, that's how it goes isn't it?

oh yeah, and what a result for bcf. some lad I know who's been off the gear ayear got caught nicking steak, what did they do, they locked him up for it coz of his past, even though his drug test was negative blah blah blah. trying to trip people up or what.

Believe me, it may appear that way but it gets old pretty quickly if the woman's got any sense at all.

Exactly. Doesn't surprise me one bit.

I'll bet he learns all about how to turn his life around in prison... :\

My English teachers just wanted to fuck me.

Has BCF wriggled free from the grasps of the Babylon or sumit. Im stuck on a retail site waiting for some poorly
Coded software to load to this useless piece of over priced hardware.

I guess we are a similar age knock ive worked in some kinda tech since 16 but in some diverse roles.

I keep thinking about starting my own business, you can start up using ebay for very little depebding on
what stock you need. I was making a reasonable return on IT stuff from office clearance when i was short of cash

Ive known people making a living from just buying and reseling mobile phones on ebay. Might be an easy first step
no need to tell the feds for a good while.

The only way to endure PCWorld is to take some meth beforehand. :D

I've never done meth but I imagine this is pretty true.

Gonna get on GTA in a bit, was stupid buying three new games in a day but it's me sorted for the weekend. Been in a shite mood all morning because obviously the one day I have to rush to 'Ull to meet someone, I get stuck behind two lorries and a caravan with bits falling off it IN THE FUCKING FOG. Also I think the flu jab has given me something terminal. Feels like it anyway.

it's like getting my hair cut. I have to have valium or heroin before i go to the hairdressers, it's just so shit sitting in a chair and being told your hair is shit and dry (in the nicest possible way)

the thought of not having anything to calm me down a bit is very scary becasue I go at a million miles an hour, sweat pouring out of everywhere, giggling at everything and I feel my heart race a lot of the time. no, i don't like it. I like to feel mellow , not off it, but mellow.

fucks sake it will not do to make a nothing less than fully thought through and perfectly worded post with you around Knock, you are very demanding of high standards, that is a good thing of course. What i should have said is that the tax payer has spent thousands of pounds getting a person through uni, chances are they have learnt some quite specialised and valuable skills, if they were smart enough to get on a decent course. This doesnt make someone without a degree any less valuable though, infact many skilled craftpersons/engineers/skilled construction trade workers earn far more money and are of far more use to society.

In these days after Tony Bleurgh made the ridiculous proposal that 50% of young people should go to university, degrees are now ten a penny, the judge must have been of the old school, when a degree was actually worth something.

Also you dont have to have a degree to be 'educated' either of course. Several people here demonstrate thatperfectly well.

It now seems you can get an 'O' level equivalent qualification in 30 hours. :! In my day it took 2 years of schooling maybe 5 hours a week for maths and english, and then a 3 hour exam at the end to get an O level. Standards must have dropped like a fuckin lead balloon if you can now truly get an O level in just 30 hours of spoon fed teaching.

You're not the only one. It's far too intimate a thing to do, and it's always the same awkwardness. People should be given a dose of barbiturates at the door.

Sometimes the thought of not having anything is far worse than the reality, but that doesn't make your symptoms any less 'real'.

Ever spoken to a doctor about this outside the context of drug addiction, if you don't mind me asking?

Thank fuck I'm bald - Once I accepted the fact that the tuft at the front of my head was not really a 'fringe' I have never looked back.

What's stopping you going back to teaching? Science teachers probably shouldn't be locked up for drugs possession either :) Did you specialise? We had "Science" classes in first and second year, then specialised from third year onwards. We were to discover that our Science teachers were in fact specialists in their own fields as they taught at all levels. It was quite a small school, though, bigger schools may have had dedicated Science teachers.

Similar age yes, you're definitely older though :D

I have also thought about doing the eBay reseller thing, I actually got as far as contacting manufacturers in China to get wholesale quotes, but doing that would be incompatible with my politics, plus the more I imagined the work, the more it appeared to be like operating a widget distribution centre and less like doing something interesting :) I mean it probably would be very interesting at first, but once you have your process running it becomes a job of unpacking, packing, labelling, dealing with customers and identifying market trends. But of technical work involved with QA, returns and tech support but nothing too exciting and the tech support could become a nightmare. I notice some sellers specify they do not provide technical support.

I'm also deliberately trying to get away from the routine of sitting in the house all day, and aiming for social interactions which go beyond pleasantries at the post office :D Obviously that's a personal thing and it would suit some people fine. The manual work would be better than being a full-time keyboard jockey, I'm sure, but it would definitely get a bit samey after a while.

Whats worse than getting you hair cut - going to the dentist and the 'assistant' rubbing his junk up and down your arm :D Random story time (it true) BF went to get his eyes tested, guy doing the test said 'Your friend can join us if he wants' - fast forward, guy 'accidentally' touches my cock due to some random back arm bowling flaw he picked up. Got a discount on the glasses though so ....

=D

Some discounts are barely worth the trauma.

haha sorry I just respond to what I see :| I do it in person too so you probably want to keep me away from any meetups :( Actually I'm not quite as bad in person, it's partly the formal nature of the written, nay typed, word that brings it out in me. Spending years going through computer code looking for logical errors is another reason for my annoying behaviour.
