Ceres just gave you some decent advice actually .. so stop being a douchebag to him. He's awesome.

Also, you can get a 2nd hand decent laptop for about £100, you really should think about getting one. £100 is nowt, it's utterly retarded to limit yourself to a phone for all your net stuff.

deleted rubbish

lol

you beat me to it ;p

I was talking about unlimited streaming via a phone contract with that point knockers btw ... on a normal phone network like vodafone which he was looking at

It does exist but tends to only be sold with older phones now. not that you cant swop the sims but im not sure hes up for that

GiffGaff £12 a month goody bag.
Unlimited texts and data, 250 minutes.
Don't care much for nudity online unless it's actual female forum members.

When the networks say your contract is X amount (4 gigs or whatever) what this usually means is streaming amount. They dont normally tell customers that browsing is often unlimited, so even if you reach your 4 gigs from streaming, you should still be able to browse. Most deny this is the case but I've found it to be true for most networks.

Hmh yeah but Marmz dont you find after the given agreed gigs the surfing speed drops to 32kb/s? thats the score with my provider. and once you hit the limit the net is too slow to even surf the netz. I think this is what BHM is talking about...
Mate if your bandwidth necessities aren't over 10g I'd recommend just getting 2 cards - when one runs out you charge it and in the meantime the other is good to go.

edit= charge in the sense of putting in whatever it requires a month. 15 quid a month? fuck it, top speed and excellent connection wherever you are. this coming from a man who owns a black and white nokia.

This, but you can't tether to a laptop/PC, or they'll cut you off. I suppose this doesn't matter, if BHM is only using a phone. For pay as you go, GiffGaff are brilliant, and cheaper than anyone else.

I tether mine to a laptop quite frequently. I don't think they can actually check or ban for this, they'll just get your for the change in your usage patterns that result in a breach of their fair use policy (which is something like no more than 5GB per day and no more than 1GB in any hour).

I tether regularly from my talk mobile sim to my laptop when or if my broadband wireless has problems. My guy does it with his contract regularly too ... never been a problem. Just as long as you don't do loadsa streaming. I'd stick to just browsing when tethering since it's not strictly allowed

Do you mean MB? You must mean MB. I hope you mean MB otherwise I'm seriously out of the loop and on a shit contract as I only get 500MB a MONTH and you're talking about using that in half an hour :D

okay, just so i dont get stung. this 9day cooling off period, where im allowed to cancel. does this mean you can actually use the new phone (NOT FOR PORN AT ALL, REALLY) and still send it back to em if cancelled within time. or is it voided as soon as the phone is used? i want to play with it a bit, but if im risking being stuck with it - i wont bother

Nope, GB. I actually went over the 1GB in an hour when I was in hospital for weeks way back last year and bought myself the PSVita pack with Little Big Planet, not realising the game was digital download only. So I tethered the Vita to my phone and downloaded the whole 1.6GB game in a little over an hour (the HSPDA connection in my hospital is amazing!). They never contacted me to say I was in breach so I guess it's only for regular / repeat offenders.

Don't forget GiffGaff isn't a contract either, its a pay as you go SIM and the free minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data come as a bolt on which you buy for £12 a month (you can set up a recurring card payment to do this). Some things (0845 numbers etc) aren't covered by the bolt on so you still need to top the phone up, but I'm still on the first tenner I put on it over a year ago. So yeah, £12 for a decent amount of data and no contract.

Once you separate the actual handset out of mobile contracts it works out real cheap, and if you work out how much a month you're paying less the £12 you could be paying to GiffGaff, over an 18 or 24 month contract, your provider is making a massive profit on it. Just buy a SIM free handset yourself. Keep all the packaging and look after it and once you're bored of it sell it on ebay. I bought a Galaxy Note for £269 and have just sold it over a year later for £147.11, so it's cost me about £10 a month. Now I have a Sony Xperia Z and will be doing the same. Latest phones and unlimited everything for about £20 a month. Beat that Carphone Warehouse / Phones 4U! :D
