10ml ketaset vial comes out to 1.2g?

Every time I have gotten a vial of ketaset (fort dodge brand, varying yellow to white liquid), I dry it out on a dish, and it always comes out to 1.2g. Why is this? The label says 100mg Ketamine HCl and 1mg Benzethonium Cl per ml. It is a 10ml vial so that means there should be 1010mg total. Where is the other 190mg coming from? Is there another ingredient? If so what is it and why isn't it on the label?

I think the measure of ketamine is the equivalent of ketamine base, not including the hcl part of the molecule. Not 100% sure but that would be my guess (off the top of my head I don't know the mass ratio of ketamine to hcl)

I remember reading about that somewhere but I didn't quite understand it.
Here it is!
"Ketaset injection description:
KETASET (ketamine hydrochloride injection, USP) is a rapid-acting, nonnarcotic, nonbarbiturate agent for anesthetic use in cats and for restraint in subhuman primates. It is chemically designated dl 2-(o-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino) cyclohexanone hydrochloride and is supplied as a slightly acid (pH 3.5 to 5.5) solution for intramuscular injection in a concentration containing the equivalent of 100 mg ketamine base per milliliter and contains not more than 0.1 mg/mL benzethonium chloride as a preservative." —http://www.drugs.com/pro/ketaset-injection.html

Yup, 100mg of ketamine base is slightly more than 115 mg as HCl salt.

So 500mg/10ml would be 5grams? It's been years since I had the chance to get some K, and I have some coming and just want to make sure I got my math right.

BTW I'm getting Ketamax. Been a LONG time since I messed with K. Is there a difference in MAX vs. SET?

No, 500mg/10ml would be 500mg (or 600,as is discussed in this thread). Usually it's either 50mg/ml or 100mg/ml. If what you're talking about is a 10ml vial, that would be the 50mg/ml strength. I've seen either 10ml vials or 2ml ampoules. Never seen a 100ml bottle, They're out there, but at least I've never seen one.

Wait so 100mg/10ml produces moe than 500mg/10ml? That doesn't make sense. Can you explain? Google Ketamax if needed. I don't mean to question you but the math doesn't make sense to me that a 100mg/10ml vial would produce more than a 500mg/10ml vial.

Those are 50mg/1ml in a 10ml bottle. Or 500mg per bottle. The stronger kind has 100mg/1ml or 1000mg per 10ml bottle. It's the same size bottle, but twice as much K in it. I didn't say anything about a 100mg/10ml vial.

It may actually be more like 600mg, since it has 500mg of ketamine as the hcl salt and possibly some preservative.
