I came out of hospital around 12 days ago. I was put on 30mg Diazepam per day to be slowly reduced by 2 - 5mg every 2 weeks. Along with that they presribed me Pregablin, starting at 150mg per day for a week, increasing to 300mg per day the next week and then the following week increase to 600mg per day.

When I was first released from hospital I foolishly went on a 6 day Oxy binge (Around 200 - 240mg per day. And having been addicted to Opiates & Benzos and having withdrawn many times I prepared myself for a rough ride after I cold turkey stopped the Oxy, my withdrawal symptoms come on very slow, usually by around 48 hours I have began to really notice them.

It's now been a week since I touched Oxy and I've had minimal - no withdrawal symptoms. I'm not sure what the Pregablin is doing....? Is it known to greatly reduce Opiate withdrawal symptoms. But I do know that since taking it I've been enjoying smoking weed again. :) I feel mellow, relaxed and sometimes giggly (The way I hope to feel when I smoke weed) Rather than it making me super Paranoid and Anxious which is how it made me feel before the Pregablin.

Many may guess that it's the Diazepam that's working the magic. but anyone who knows my (Reckless/Stupid) drug taking behaviour of the past will know that 30mg of Diazepam hardly touches me :( (Through years of reckless abuse eating handfulls of Benzos at a time! Not recommended) I guess that the 30mg is just sufficient to minimize my risk of seizure, as I did cold turkey off ridiculous doses when I was addmitted to the hospital. But IME the small dose of Diazepam is not enough to enable me to smoke weed without any negative effects.

Anyone else have similar experiences? Any other thoughts on Pregablin?

To me (so far) it seems like a great drug..

Yea I used it's sister drug gabapentin for benzo/opiate combination withdrawal and got a withdrawal that was FAR WORSE from it afterward. Definitely seemed like a great drug at first as it reduced withdrawal symptoms by alot. Definitely was not worth it in the end when it caused a withdrawal worse than any opiate or benzo withdrawal I've ever been through in my life.

Doesn't happen to everyone though.

In fact, the withdrawal never ended and I had to reinstate it after 1.5 years of misery. Now I need to eat these shit pills untill the day I die. I wish I never took them.

If I could turn back time and take both my buprenorphine and clonazepam addiction back instead of the addiction to this shit I would do it without a second thought.

Maybe kava could help for a benzo withdrawal? I believe it has some gaba activity, although I've not used it myself. One drug that helped me was phenibut, but obviously that's a lot weaker than baclofen, not to mention it's insane tolerance build-up. It's also quite addictive ime.

If you're having trouble sleeping a first generation antihistamine like diphenhydramine could be useful. Valerian root is also mildly active on GABA, which might help with w/d. Kava kava has seemed to help other people aswell.

The pregabalin should ease w/ds, but i would use them scarcely if at all. Toz' story is enough of a reason.

Yeah, I've found valerian helpful too. It's not just a sedative; it makes for a great anxiety drug too. For myself, I don't find dph a sedative-it makes me jittery and edgy, but it could work for you. Oh yeah, this is a big one: avoid caffeine or other stimulants! If you're anxious they'll make you worse. I've found chamomile tea quite relaxing. Also, you may try taking gaba the supplement. I've heard if you take pure, reagent grade gaba sublingually, it can be very relaxing, and by avoiding the stomach (in theory) some of it should pass the BBB.

Ah yes trazodone works well for sleep too. Used it a few time during benzo w/d myself but i had only a few pills, and since it's rx only i just went with DPH for sleep.

Im taking Tramadol for a lower back injury , wasn't looking forward to coming off them , my doc prescribed Pregablin 200mg , defo made it easier

I am wondering the same thing right now as I am being detoxed from 30mgs Diazepam, Will be 25mg from Monday, but I am getting 300mgs a day Gabapentin from the GP (Different Clinic) for back pain wich will be increased, so I'm hoping the rise of Gabapeintin will help in the Drop of Diazepam, I need benzos and coming to terms with the fact that they are taking me off them is hard, and I know I'll end up self medicating again.

I understand the panic of drs planning a detox your not ready for; I've been there, and it's fucking terrifying. If you were to go for a drug treatment agency, there's a good chance you could get inpatient detox; (benzo dependence is seen as high risk to the medical people).I don't know if that's something you'd be interested in? Is getting off benzos something you'd want to do btw?

Starting my own taper Monday , to anyone interested in using benzos for anxiety use short acting ones no more than twice a week , stay the fuck away from this valium shit !

Good luck with your detox mate. Am I safe to take etiz for 5 days in a row if I take less each day btw? I've spoken to etiz addicts, and they told me dependence takes longer to happen, but I want to be very careful.

For sleep, I had success with Trazodone. Knocked me out.

For an erection, I had great success with Trazodone. =D

Not but seriously, thanks guys and gals for all your imput and suggestions %) To be honest I've tried most of them but I'll keep my eyes on for new medication that can help my condition.

What people worries me is the stories of Pregabalin withdrawal! I feel right now that the Pregablin is helping me in every way.

pregabalin is fantastic for opiate WDs. but be careful it has a sting all of its own. Like benzos use for minimal amount of time required. Or perhaps cycle with benzos for a time. but dont let anyone tell you there are no WDs from Lyrica.

Hey pally, been a while. Sorry to hear about your relapse. I've gone and done the same.

Pregabalin is the devils own poison. That stuff is more addictive than opiates and benzos combined at the withdrawals are worse than anything you'll experience in your life. Honestly, I took it at 400mg daily for 6 months, it took me a year to come off it, during that year I was extremely reckless and depressed - hell I can't even remember most of it. Benzo and opiate withdrawal is a walk in the park in comparison.

It's much like subutex for coming off opiates etc. it's fantastic if you use it for 5-7 days to get yourself off, but when you take it for longer, you're dancing with the devil. It's pushed as a safe alternative drug that helps with anxiety and whatnot, but in reality it's actually fucking up every part of your brain imaginable. You lose plasticity in your neurons, and they stop firing - you can't create new memories, probably why I can't remember most of the time I was on it and coming off it. It fucks your adrenals so hard you can't get out of bed or move to go to the toilet.

Seriously buddy, I know you have an addictive personality as do I. I can't go near it, as it does give a sense of well being, but the price you pay is not comparable. Pretty much anything else is better in my opinion.
