So my friend and I went 50/50 on an ounce the other day of some really bunk pot. We got it from my usual dealer who always has really potent chronic at a decent price and is the only dealer I have ever trusted. (until recently) It looks kind of like chronic, but it seems really dry and flakey. It doesn't look like mids/schwag, but it for sure looks off. It falls apart very easily. It is kind of prickly in texture. It does not smell like any grade of pot, be it chronic, mids, etc. It kind of smells like pine/subtle mint. It looks as if it has been dried. I wouldn't know any way to tell if it has been cured with pot that looks as off as this. I put a couple bowls into my vape on the way to work the other day, and nothing. My friends and I all smoked a couple bowls, nothing. My dealer was claiming that he had gotten ripped off, didn't know it, and would pay us back. I just wanted to know if anybody on these forums had some insight about what could have caused this? Would curing it potentially bring out its psychoactive properties? Is it likely this plant just got no love from the grower? This really threw me off. I've been buying from him for over a year, and I only inspected it from him before I grew to trust him.
 
it sound like that weed isnt salvagable

maybe it was cured incorrectly or something who knows

weed needs to smell skunky to get u funky tho imo, it is pretty dodgy that ur dealer wouldnt know the weed he's selling is bunk

Try not to buy from middlemen. Easier said than done I know but who can you really trust apart from yourself and people you really know?

I bet he sold you the stuff knowing full well it was shit.
 
Just an off the wall thought, maybe they extracted the THC chemically while trying not to damage it. Then dried it and sold it off. A lot of trouble and greedy so I can't imagine anyone doing it. But some people are strange.
 
^it would be hard to try and extract anything from whole nugs

then again, it is whole nugs right? i assume youre not buying shake or anything dumb like that....

its possible its just not as dank as youre used to and your tolerance is getting in the way. before you throw it away try cooking it into some edibles. if you eat a whole ounce and nothing then you know for sure something is up, even an ounce of shwag should make you a little high in an edible
 
Once I was sold tea as weed when younger from a street dealer in Brixton by the tube station in London. I even smoked it refusing to believe it was fake lol.
 
Oh yeah, these were definitely full nugs. I would have noticed if it was psychoactive at all. I just came off a tolerance break of about 3 months just 3 weeks ago.
 
Well the night he got it he may have just thought it wasn't as dank, which would explain his slightly cheaper pricing this time. He only told me that he would refund me the next day, when had time to sober up and go at it again.
 
I mean, if he decided to give you a refund, that seems like a REALLY nice guy, just saying.

If he didn't give a fuck about you, he'd just be like, 'Dude...no refunds!'

And actually, I mean, yea, that's pretty much the cardinal rule of the drug world...you get what you pay for and there's no going back.

The thing is...unless you know the grower, everyone is a middleman with weed.

There really is no concrete advice I can give - the deal is, sometimes someone down the weed line makes a fucked up decision, basically thinking that a product is better than it is. Clearly either the guy you brought from or the guy above him was duped just like you were - they probably got the stuff because it looked OK but they probably wouldn't have really tested it, and it likely would have been vacuum sealed off or something. Just saying, it's not as easy to tell if something is good just by sight. It does happen a lot. (EDIT: Or, someone down the line decided to fuck over someone else, or was a dumbass in what they thought was good...if your guy was reliable for a whole year, something out of the ordinary must have happened).

Personally I've had this happen to me a ton...maybe not as bad as you're describing it, but I've felt ripped off plenty.

The best way to avoid a situation like this is to educate yourself. Take a little time to go online and see what a properly cured, mature bud looks like. When you buy, carry a small magnifier with you. You can inspect a bud very quickly and tell right away if you want to buy it or not.

If I used a magnifier to inspect herbal before I bought it off of any of my connects I don't think the relationship would ever be the same...
 
That's unfortunate. There is a lot of competition these days. People shouldn't be so thin skinned. It could cost them business.
 
Truth be told? I don't think I'd even know what to look for in a bud under magnification to determine quality.


Also, I'm very strange about my dealing with drugs. I usually don't even touch them until I'm heading out of the house/establishment for my car.

Hell, when I'm meeting someone in my car I don't even hand them money. They hop in for a minute with the money wedged in the passenger side cupholder. I pul off and drive around whatever neighborhood I'm in for a minute while dude that just hopped in takes the money, puts whatever I'm buying in the passenger side door and then we shoot the shit until we get to wherever they want to get on foot again. No mention of the transaction, no handshakes above the dashboard.



I've heard my recorded voice in court once before discussing illegal activities. Never again. (It is unfortunate, though... I used to be so laid back when it came to catchin' a buzz.)
 
Sounds like it could be what we call in my area China Bud, or Asian, nice big nugs with lots of red or orange hairs and at first looks pretty decent, but once you pull out a nug you can see it has no crystals and smells very faintly like pine or something of the sort, tastes like shit and doesn't get you high, from the way you describe it this was much more then just a bad cure, its stuntbud!

That is the way to do it though when you know the people you are dealing with. I know dealers who would have it no other way. Me and my dealer used to meet on the subway, sit down each carrying a bag with some random small amount of groceries (like fruit etc + the drugs/money) then we sit and talk for a few stations like we just bumped into each other, then one of us would leave with the other's bag.
