Did 'hard' drugs ruin comparatively weaker drugs for you?

Hey,

Just scoping out people's experiences with this, does anyone have experience with using harder drugs like heroin and meth a few times and not being able to be satisfied by the high of weaker drugs like ecstasy or amphetamines? Or does each drug have its own perks and still be as satisfying after experiencing the stronger highs of the harder drugs?

Thanks for any input in advance,
Av

"Hard" and "soft" drugs are just naming conventions, just like "research chemical". The lines are pretty blurry.

There are lots of people who have tried "hard" drugs (cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin) and still like other drugs too. There is nothing special about methamphetamine or heroin that 'burns a fuse out' and makes all the other drugs inferior. In fact, methamphetamine is (was?) a common adulterant in street "ecstacy". Some people simply take a liking to what the media calls "hard drugs", either because of cost, because of preference for the effects, or because they are availiable. Some people really take a liking to LSD, cannabis, or oxycodone, too. Or coffee, or good cigars, or beer, or chocolate, or new video games... (I really like chocolate cake, but when I have a slice it's not the only thing I want to eat for the rest of my life.)

Of course, at some point taking drugs of similar classes (e.g. meth, amphetamine, MPA, 2-FMA) will either cause development of tolerance, or it will lose its novelty. A "honeymoon period" is common with drug usage, where people really enjoy usage of e.g. psychedelics when they are first introduced to them. As years go by of using drugs all the time, the novelty will eventually wear off.

By the way, I would hardly call MDMA "weaker" than methamphetamine. It's all about dosing and personal physiology. Some people will have a more enjoyable time on MDMA than they will on meth. Every drug should be respected equally. They can all harm you if you don't take them correctly.

Amps and e are hard drugs too, amps being the worst shit for you after methamp.. I never lost the magic of zopiclone and weed after trying speed, meth, opiates etc. In fact I love my hash/pot more than ever. I have found hard drugs make me depressed long term. I recently have gotten into IV speed again, and I sick of it now, I want some weed or hash. But its been dry around here lately, no mary jane, but speed is almost free. Talk about a shitty replacement for my weed high(speed that is)..........

But, as sekio said, one of the biggest problems people have with this issue can be once you develop a tolerance (which is not very hard to do with most drugs, but especially opiates/opioids and amphetamines) you can find it very hard to get much satisfaction out of drugs deemed "softer" (which is all just relative). For example, I took hydrocodone for years and was very satisfied with it. I then began to use oxycodone in addition. Once my tolerance went up a little I got much more satisfaction out of oxy. Now I could take a ton of hydrocodone and it would do absolutely nothing for me. Once you start needing drugs its no fun anymore.

BTW, out of all drugs I have ever taken, both prescribed and illicit, nothing has ever raised my tolerance faster than amphetamines!

i love a broad range of drugs available. ranging from intravenous opiods, dissocitives, tryptamines, phenylthylamines, benzos, booze and cigarettes.

they all have their combos as well as time and place which is important. im not going to roll bawlz at a family members wedding but, a light dose of valium and IV morphine with a joint somewhere in the timeline with cousins would be ideal for me to be sociable enough with my family. otherwise you wouldnt see me without a beer in each hand.

Well the term hard and soft drugs really don't mean anything. In the right quantities alcohol can be more damaging then the worst Heroin habit.

My tolerance to opiates and benzos don't allow me to get high off a combo of codeine and anti-histamines or Demerol and a anti-histamine like i used to. I only use codeine these days to fix me up when i run out of morphine and can't get another strong opiate. With benzos i do miss being able to take some temazepam and some zopiclone and get a awesome downer buzz going. Instead of say 60mg's of temazepam being enough for me now it's more like 150mg's since I've been on 4-6mg's of clonazepam a day for ages now.

I still smoke Cannabis daily and i love shrooms so that hasn't changed.

Definitely not. Abusing "hard drugs" for almost a decade I can say that today I prefer more subtle drugs like weed that doesn't cause physical addiction / hangovers and other side effects I find almost intolerable by now. One dose of MDMA leaves me completely destroyed for a week and one dose of heroin gives me one day of withdrawal regardless how long I wait it seems these days. It just isn't worth it anymore, my body simply can't handle it.

No substance i have done has ever really effected my tolerance for another. temporarily, for example, when i take acid smoking bongs gives me a small euphoria rush, rather then getting me stoned. This was also a good indicator of when the effects had worn off completely. when i could get stoned again ment i was sweet.
at the end of the day, i still love my weed and it still gets me baked.

There's a drug for all occasions. :)

No, I've been trying different drugs for two decades, and the only thing that has really lost it's shine for me is LSD.

i know them feels. its been about a year since i last took it so hopefully when i do it again(soon) some of the magic might come back.

IME each drug has its perks. Taking 'hard' drugs like H or coke has not changed my appreciation of weaker substances. It all depends on what kind of magic you're looking for...

somewhat, in the sense that i'd rather do heroin than essentially any other drug, ever, but i still enjoy getting stoned, taking mushrooms, and drinking and whatnot.

strong opiates ruined weak opiates, but other than that, i still like the lower level drugs, MDMA, weed, shrooms, etc etc

I thought heroin ruined weed for me when I was addicted to it, but since I got off the dope I've smoked weed and it's just as good as ever for me. Looking back, I probably still liked it even when I was addicted to H, I just didn't want to waste any money on weed because I was spending it all on dope.

youre doing it wrong to be a junkhead and not be able to pick up a bag of weed to compliment the herowin high and smoke when the gold runs out.

I hate weed when I'm on opiates. Ruins the opiate high for me. I nod way harder when it's just opiates and nothing else in my system (except maybe a few somas or some promethazine).
