no. my limit is 5000 and i've only received 67 messages since the last time i cleaned out my inbox. the number of private messages i've received in my whole time on bluelight is in the tens of thousands.

Wait a minute, this is a bad idea isn't it? Everyone who gets PMs will have to check this thread whenever there is a post. Otherwise, what's the point? Surely such a thread only makes sense if it's got the target's name in the title. As it stands it's a bit like having one ring tone for everyone in the country. That rings on everyone's phone. Even when they're not phoning you, you have to pick up to find out if it's for you.

Shit analogy I know.

Plus we can merge those sorts of threads into this one.

I try to keep mine at about 95 messages. I dont get a huge amount of PMs, but i like to keep a lot of them for the factual info they contain, and for other reasons, like some have had words of encouragement or wisdom etc. I suppose i could copy and paste the whole lot into notepad/wordpad but what a fuckin boring ballache that would be.

just seen your note in the thread FG. Maybe i should try and keep my total around 90 to allow room for a sudden influx if im away for a while.

What's the harm in a few "clear your box" threads? They occupy space in our field of vision for a day (hopefully just some of a day! you do other things, right? even I do other things.) then they're gone. Boohoo.

since you guys are usually around to close the few 'clear your box threads' that occur, maybe you could just temp change the title of this thread to include the latest poster's name who this thread is being directed at?

It would take no more or less effort and would get the attention of the poster in question

Of course sometimes a mod might not be around, sometimes it might not work, sometimes it might ... but it also sometimes might be helpful

I'm sure there's always at least 50 reasons you can think of to not do summat tho .. we've all got that talent

I used to use the DL to notepad option but I accidentally deleted one necessary lot once from my usb pen so now my box is always full
 
But WHY? Why do we close the threads (don't answer that, there is a point as they just become gibberings 2), and why should we merge them in here? WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACHIEVE?

I'm shouting now.
