Just seen Limitless, has to be the greatest film about drugs ever made. Loser guy takes a clear pill and within 30 seconds he has no shyness or fear, can learn a language in 3 days, learn to play piano, read and understand "The elegant universe" within 45 minutes and fight like fuck. Gets into stock market work and makes millions and even more surprising - the guy doesn't die horribly in order to conform to Ofcom guidlines that drugs cannot be glamourised.

Best depiction of being drugged I think I've ever seen - the whole screen is touched with golden light when he's on the NZT.

Just need to get some NZT for myself..

Yeah very good film. Need to watch it again sometime

Blow is a pretty good drug film.

they should have kept this coke scene in Boogie nights, this is spot on

I don't know, I can't think of a bigger waste of talent than trading shares. Fucking hell, why didn't he cure cancer or something? Then invent a frictionless engine, and maybe do some more with his musical skills.

Yeah I think solving the worlds energy crisis would have been a good thing to do. Trading, lol.

But then again perhaps it's more subversive to suggest drugs could be put to use by the establishment rather than launching an attack on the establishment? Bait and switch and all that.

It's a shite film in retrospect. Was entertaining for the couple of hours while watching it tho.

It's also a shite drug. Things start falling apart as soon as you stop taking it.

Plus not only did he leap into doing the stock exchange thing, he then went on to go into politics, with no different mentality than his predecessors really.

A drug for meglomaniacs. With no obvious change in attitude for the better. We've got enough cunts like that in the world already, ta.

Pile of shite.

Limitless? B+

THIS is the best drugs movie I've seen (strictly imo)!

LOL subversive.

He trampled his way to the top of the establishment (didn't he end up running for president or summat, can't fully remember) in exactly the same way his predecessor did (ie De Niro). One can fairly assume his bid would be successful, leaving him as Pres, while in total sole charge of production, distribution and sale of the drug that got him there.

Yeah, that's going to go well. The situation we've all been hankering for for ages. Or maybe he'll be a good lad and in Limitless 2 we'll see his 1st act as Pres be free NZT drugs for all **whooohooo/crowd goes wild**

Unless Unlimitless 2 has Rowdy Roddy Piper brought out of retirement to take control of the labs with a bunch of rednecks, you can count me out, I ain't watching it.

Give me a winking smilie or summat Izzy pls, cause you're one of the guys I'd actually love to meet from BL tbh.

(meh, don't mind me, I'm just bitter and annoyed with myself that I saw it at the cinema and actually thought the same as you for a good 10 minutes after seeing it)

2 words (or is it 4?)

Drugstore Cowboy

Limitless was total piss imo. Would you even really class it as a "drug" film?

Theres loads I suppose. An impossible subject to agree on.

Spot on. It was shot nicely and visually appealing. But the story line fails to really open the viewers mind to the what if's if they had that kind of power. He turned into a douche. I thought he wanted to be a writer..

Everything that drug enabled him to achieve and yet he still didn't invent a hover-board, what a waste.

Hold on a sec dear marma! True, the people on the first batch did fall apart after stopping but at the end he tells De Niro "I'm not on it anymore - once you figure out the bugs and taper off you're fine". So that's the only film I've ever seen thats suggested a positive outcome for someone on drugs - against ofcom guidelines!

I don't know if he came off as a meglomaniac - he was just using 100% of his noggin. I think if they'd made him become some sort of Jesus Christ figure it might've been a bit too obviously druggy. I see it as a trojan horse philosophy - you get a drug addict becoming a powerhouse in the establishment and in the end he doesn't need the drugs. Don't you leave the film thinking "Drug use can be positive?". Isn't that the key message of the film? And it doesn't tell you that he's turned into anyone negative when he goes into politics. He doesn't rip anyone off or kill anyone.

Anyway, answer that and stay fashionable!

I'm gonna watch it again anyway marma and see what I think - I was on 300 mics of al-lad when I saw it so that may have influenced my thinking somewhat.

But he did learn half a dozen languages, learn the piano to grade 8 standard and read the elegant universe. Perhaps he was getting into politics on a legalise drugs platform? :D

People already think drugs can help them achieve stuff. The offices of our western world are littered with coffee machines. And then there's all psychiatry... There is no stigma attached to a drug who's effects are in line with the culture.

So it's subverting a straw man.

The Matrix, on the other hand: Take the red pull, "Free your mind". Sounds like Neo was tripping, or rolling ballz.

I never was fashionable though :D

I think you're picking at tiny bits of it tho knock - he took drugs, did well and became successful. That's a message at odds with drugstore cowboy/requiem or any other drug film where you take drugs and inevitably die face down in a steaming pile of catshit (a la trainspotting).
