Post a picture of your medication

shhhhh, :sus:

I was on the Venlafaxine for a good year or so (maybe more ..not sure) before coming off in the new year, it didn't go very well even though I survived the WD quite well so I've relented and gone back on for the time being.

It doesn't really agree with me either, Headaches, bowel issues(let's not go into detail) nervous tension and brutal insomnia which having come off and back on again I can confidently attribute to said poison. Seems to stop me from obsessing about suicide though, which is a bonus not to be trifled with:)

Sorry to read about your woes, sounds a bit like Bell's Palsy (apologies if you have stated such) I've had a couple of relatives who had an episode of that, very dramatic dropping of the face on one side but both made a full recovery, whatever it is I hope it improves soon.

I'm hoping my doc comes up with some better pain medication tomorrow, I stopped the MST recently due to diminishing returns and 30/500s just take the edge off, he's been devoid of other options before, if he doesn't sort it out and come up with a better AD regime I'm getting Mrs A to escort me next time. She did that for quite a while after a particularly nasty wonkathon and is so much better at communicating with the lizard people at the surgery:sus:

Bell's Palsy is involved yeah. I always thought that was the actual problem but doc informs me is but a symptom of summat else. Who knows? Not I anyway. Although have some ideas based on what I've been told so far. Meh. Doc's appointment again tomorrow. She won't have the CT scan results yet but can hopefully at least tell me whether the meds are gonna make a difference in the meantime. Is not a Good Thing by a very long way... but ain't quite a Bad Thing yet :)

To be quite honest, I've kinda given up on AD meds. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm always gonna be very prone to extreme mood swings and deep depressions. Ain't great but beats AD meds into a cocked hat imo, ime, ymmv, etc, etc. Just can't stand that flat "zombified" state that any and all AD meds bring me to sooner or later. Would rather the extreme highs and lows. Even if they (literally) kill me. Wouldn't mind so much if the ADs at least just lifted me from the very worst of the depressions alone... but they don't. They take away any and all capacity for happiness too. Just not a thing I can let go. What is life worth if genuine happiness - however fleeting - is off the table? Nothing. Not for me anyway. If I wanted to just flatten my emotional state I'd still be on heroin... actually I wouldn't cos that doesn't work forever that way either... but still better than AD meds. Imo, ime, ymmv, etc, etc.

As for pain meds, you've quite possibly seen my bupe evangelism on that front. Is the absolute tits for pain. Imo, ime, ymmv, etc, etc. Mainly cos once you find the dose that kills your pain it never needs to change. Again, imo, ime, ymmv, etc, etc. Works great for emotional pain too. Lifts my mood at least as much as any AD med ever has and then some. And doesn't kill the highs either. Can still be happy... when I have good reason to be happy.

We iz all different though. Good luck on finding the mix that suits you. Don't let the buggers bring you down, Mr... Allein <3

Spoonful of this and I'm hard as fuck

^ Looks like that would have you shitting bricks (that's an actual expression here, not sure about anywhere else).

Nah, one spoonful and you don't need any of the crutches that have been posted in this thread so far.

Much as I'd love to kick off the crutches of things taking (hopefully all of) chances of brain damage away, me's also say that is a medication thread. If we never needed medicating that would leave us all with perfect teeth which would really fuck your career path.

So harsh... you never had the sniffles? You never had a tickly cough? You never had the squits? You never had erectile dysfunction?

I'm sure you have. In which case you could also post pix of scripted crutches. Go on, what is your poison? Radox? Zovirax? Ex-lax?

All has crutches. You too. All do.

SAm that Lithium sounds taylor made 4 your arse .

Um... cheers Brimz! I think... =D

What are the side effects like ?

Remains to be seen, but you need regular bloodwork in order to monitor things. If you fuck up with it, then there's a whole host of nasty effects, but the positives outweigh the risks really. I hope. Early doors yet. Good thing I ain't scared of needles, eh? I knew my misadventures would pay off some day.

[BROFIST] \m/ [/BROFIST]

Oooh yeah! ;)

Did somebody say Ex-Lax? Wonderful stuff.

When you say Bloodwork what do you mean exactly ?

Is it like when you are on Warfrin & you have to go n get your I & R levels tested every week ? Pain in the arse that is i've had two Warfrin treatments both for DVTs .

Luckily they use one of those little pencil things that just takes a tiny bit of blood out yer finger tip .
My DVT is really bad atm hence the Oxy script .

Anyway yeah can you clarify what you mean by Blood work please mate.

@ ALien

I see you get the sr morphine .

Did you get any choice in that ? IMO/E they are fukin shit at killing pain with no buzz at all ( maybe my Opiate tolerance has something to do with this )

i could of had the instant release ones but i went for OXY instead 3 times stronger n well just nicer .

OTC pseudo and into my 8am appointment

You never had a tickly cough?
Glass of water and manned up

You never had the squits?
If you mean the runs, then I held that bad boy in and took a shit during my tea break

You never had erectile dysfunction?
Funnily enough despite 25 years of solid drug use I have never failed to raise with the Sun. Or for a lady.

Cup of earl grey for breakfast and a stiff scotch with dinner.

Pretty much similar to your Warfarin experience, but less frequent; about once every 4-6 weeks to begin with. They measure the lithium concentration in your blood, for which there's an optimum therapeutic level. The reason being that the therapeutic level is not that far away from being toxic.

It becomes less regular once you've reached a certain point. To start with I'm on 400mg per day to see how I react to it.

It's a lot less scary than it might sound.

I see yeah that is very similar to Warfarin .

The thing that pissed me off the most was having to get tested every week , it takes them forever to get the I & R level right n when they do it fukin changes !!

The Hospital was a fair distance from my gaff as well which despite having my free bus pass required walking up a fuking steep hill , by the time i got there my calf was like a fukin tree trunk :|

Great for someone with DVT, huh? :\

I'm lucky in that my SPR clinic is opposite the shop where I buy my tobacco and beer, though you'd never know it was there unless you were a patient or staff. Not that I have any mobility problems, (luckily) but it's nice to be able to leave a psychiatric appointment and be home in a couple of minutes. Suppose that's the idea really.

whats it like acid? i am probably going to get perscribed this

hey Bare!

It's certainly a buzz @ 300mg+! Physically it gives u a strong feeling of desensitization all over your body. Very wobbely on your feet too. Mentally if feels like a mixture of alchohol & benzos. Very chilled out, stoned vibe. As it works on GABA it also potentiates alcohol & benzos & even opiates.
Felt VERY drunk the morning after wakling up from 450mg + a bottle of wine! Lovely stuff recreationally. My girlfriend couldn't survive without them tho.

I've been on and off them for a year, I don't rate them. They do kinda work for my pain but they take an age to kick in of a morning so you can't just take some one you need to. I've tried hard to stop the dose from escalating to much but switching more of to later in the day or even the whole lot at once early evening.

Not even a wiff of IR tabs, it's been those or 30/500s. I can't take Tramadol because of the AD but my doc isn't keen on it anyway. I'm at the docs today to discuss medication in general. I've had a further referral for my wonky leg but just had a letter saying it will be 2 months before they even schedule an appointment and it's getting worse not better so he'll have to front up with summit decent...but my money is on he won't.

I could get Oxy or Morphine IR 'privately' but it would cost way too much and I like to keep such procurement stickily recreational ;)

@Sam, apologies for the flippant remark, hope the new meds settle in, a brave step IMO ATB:)
