Hi all,

So I took 5mg of Diazepam to help me sleep, and I must say it does the job. nothing else, nothing more.

I just feel like going to sleep.

This is also very important, as it can greatly improve your life. Out of all drugs, sleep is the best. You need sleep the most. So, what's wrong with taking a sleeping tablet every now or then to improve your life because your getting full sleep + bonus sleep.

People need to chill out and stop all this arguing over drugs. And people being arrested for it, its a mess. A joke.
I don't live in the USA, but the USA is a dump with is nut drug laws. They must learn, soon to learn, need to learn.

Ok?.

So, thank you for reading and have a nice night.

But people get addicted
Even taking it for easy sleep for maybe 3-4 weeks and then falling asleep without, you're gonna have some fucked up dreams that will leave you restless and mentally drained for the whole day

- Get people who get addicted an antidote.
- Clearly, the drug would not be meant to be used for a long time. So only limit yourself when you need to go to sleep.

There are many other people out there addicted to the computers,tv's,books, etc and end up staying up to 2am-4am most nights which leads them down an awful path, so clearly sleep is very important.

lol, what's the question?

What's better?.

Swallowing or putting it under my tongue?.

I get what the guy said below about addicting, I have tried non-benzo in the past and it was nothing compared to this.
its quite nice, I can just drift off into sleep, perfect. wait up the next day feeling refreshed because of full sleep

Well, principles really
You don't get in labeled for being a book work or a computer freak to have it kept away from you
It's easy to talk, some people get too stressed when their whole routine is going to sleep at 1 am, knowing they have no more than 5 hours of sleep
Their will docs prescribe them with it for as long as they think is needed and that usually gets them hooked, only to someday get cut off and have to get them illegally

If you take 5mg a night, every night, eventually it will stop working. When it stops working and you stop taking it, people start to withdraw and get anxious and restless. This can happen in the span of two to three weeks if you're not careful.

Just because *you* use drugs responsibly, doesn't mean everyone else will.

5mg every night will stop working yes.

My script of 20mg a day, one 10mg in the morning and one 10mg at night still works since 3 years. Of course it's not like it used to be, but the anxiolytic effects do not go away, most research I read supports the same.

Valium is a nice muscle relaxer too, an effect that does not go away, in fact, i've been on 2 benzos from a psychiatrist in my life, and they were both hardcore muscle relaxer, the other one was clonazepam. The side effects of withdrawal from very muscle relaxant benzos is the worst....having your stomach go into spasms is insane heh, but that was at 3mg of clonaz a day and before i switched to valium and tapered down the dose by 66% easily, 20mg diazepam is 2/3 less of a 3mg clonaz habit.

Enjoy it, I don't know too many people bashing valium around here though :?

This! I wanted benzos so badly for sleep/anxiety and argued with my doc for years trying to get them. I eventually obtained them myself and years later wish I listened to my DR! I'm at a stupidly high dosage and don't get hardly any effects from them at all now! Just need to take to stop going into WD.

I too thought I would have a hand on them and wouldn't end up addicted but the problem is they're too nice! They made my days so blissful,, anxiety free I was able to do so many things that I couldn't before. When something makes you more productive too often you will start to take them on days off, if you have something anxiety provoking coming up, if your depressed or bored...Any excuse and addict behaviour. As they're rather subtle you don't think you're getting yourself into shit but before long you're taking higher doses more frequently and too often start to take them daily to avoid the WD's

I think benzos have there time and place but now agree everyday use isn't wise! From personal experience, you do start to loose there effects which is why so many people take more.

If you say its for sleep you already NEED them which is what happened with me when unable to sleep, There are plenty of other drugs and techniques that would get you to sleep without the worry of dependency. I advise you think about this, If you're reluctant to try alternatives then you're already showing signs of addiction. Sleeping on Benzos seems so wasteful anyway! They should be prescribed to relieve anxiety of flying, going to the dentists etc. Or short term if having extreme anxiety whilst other medication kicks in. Daily use should be for older people that are really unwell, or whilst someone is severely anxious after trying all the alternatives.

What do you think is keeping you from sleeping? You should try and address this issue first. Lifestyle changes etc..Are you being active enough? Taking stimulants/caffeine etc? Do you have a disability or illness?

It’s your life I know just wanted to make you aware of there abuse/addictive potential.

Doubt you’ll listen as I never! All the best.

I don't think people hate on diazepam, I think they think pretty much like you OP, it does it's job and that's it. It's not as great as clonazepam/alprazolam/flunitrazepam to get "fucked up" on in my oppinion.

It's there, it's just not that interesting when there are more potent alternatives available, therefore not talked about that much.

You obviously really love valium. 5mg is nothing too. Have fun when in a few more days that does absolutely nothing. Then ts 10mg, then 20mg, then 30-40. Who knows how much, I knew people taking 100's of mgs. Then you are addicted, and oh man, you got yourself some serious withdrawals when you become a benzo'd out zombie. Benzo's really should not be used for sleep makes habituation so much fast.

There's a magical pill out there that makes addiction go away?!?! What's it called! I can't believe I've never heard of anything like that. I can't believe anyone's stupid enough to get addicted, with an antidote out there. :\
Oh and limit it to only when you sleep? I don't know about you, but I tend to sleep every night,. I know, I know, I have a sleep addiction problem. Good thing there's an antidote for that! Kidding aside, even if you use it for sleep only a few times a week, your tolerance will skyrocket and you will not be able to sleep if you don't take 5x as much as now.

And seriously, I see "I'm going to start using drug X, I know about addiction, buy it wont happen to me. I have a full proof plan. I'll just not take too much" 8) Famous last words.

I will agree though, I think valium is my favorite benzo. I had too many fucked up experiences on Kpins. Xanax just gets me fucked up like I'm drunk. Ativan doesn't last long enough. Valium though, the pill with the closest thing to euphoria in a benzo.

One more thing, how many drugs have you tried OP. I just ask cause I'm curious if you've ever taken opiates or what not.

Somtimes the cure is worse than the ailment.

I'd take a few nights without sleep rather than risk getting addicted to benzos again, that's a definite.

Granted the drug laws are overboard, but actually in comparison to some countries they are lax. As well the prisons are 5 star hotels compared to many other country's prisons. Obviously not the one you are from.... which it would be nice of you to mention if you want to put down another country's ideals, at least then tell us where you reside. To say a country is a dump for its drug laws is quite obnoxious as well, there are many far worse issues with the US. And BTW, the medication is legal if you get it prescribed for medical reasons, so your argument really makes no sense whatsoever. Honestly how you went from praising Diazepam for its ability to cure insomnia to bashing the US for its drug laws is going from one tangent to another and I wonder why that was even a relevant remark to add to this post.

Also if you did some research you would realize that benzodiazepines are a poor sleep aid seeing as they don't allow for a efficient amount of REM sleep, similar to alcohol as they have somewhat similar mechanisms of action. Yes any sleep is better than no sleep, but there are other options which provide more restful sleep and are not incredibly addictive and a high risk for physical dependence.

With the exception of benzos that are designed for sleep such as temazeapm. I believe most if not all studies show that it doesn't affect REM sleep and that if it does it's minimal.

Try hypnotic benzos then..

You mean every other option is shitty, including the doctor's favourite, trazodone, enjoy mcPP nightmares.

When you have benzos and never not have them due to Rx they are life savers, especially when you have a sleep disorder melatonin (which although puts me to sleep makes me dream/have nightmares) don't touch much. Benzos create dreamless sleep which is the best, like when I used to smoke weed a lot (and enjoy it, which I can't anymore unless in real small quantities).

I'm getting old I think.

Funny, my prescribed valium gives me vivid, peaceful dreams mostly @ 10 mg doses, always has...
But I've been on a 8 month taper from 15 mg's a day My Dr. doesnt believe in prescribing benzos along w/ opioids
It's great he's given me a year taper though (down to 2-3 mg's every other night)
It was hard to get below 5 mg's but it gets easier with time, if I start having anxiety/panic bouts again I'll go visit a Psych'
2 mg. valium was one of the first medications I was prescribed at age 13 for blinding headaches
(that was obviously the early 70's though)...
Glad to read you're off the M'done...sounds like you're on a safer, snag-less path

I know I'm getting old...but it's always been mostly a state of mind for me.

Benzos mess with sleep architecture and make sleep less restful. Why not take mirtazapine or any number of less addictive drugs? I wish I knew about the antidote when I was addicted to benzos. The advertising department of the pharmaceutical company with the antidote should be fired.

damn id hate to have to take benzos every night to sleep...benzos put me to sleep but man i wake up the next day groggy and just SLOWED down...lasts for the first half of the day too which sucks..
