HARRISON — Three people face drug distribution charges after police say they received a package containing $40,000 worth of MDMA, a synthetic drug similar to ecstasy, police said.

On Wednesday, Harrison Police and the Department of Homeland Security were alerted by the U.S. Postal Service of a package intended for a Harrison resident containing drugs, police said.

At about 11 a.m., the postal service, under the surveillance of Harrison police, delivered the package to a woman at a Patterson Street residence, police said.

The woman, a 26-year-old Harrison resident, signed for the package and was arrested, police said.

Police said the package was intended for the woman’s boyfriend, Jaime Melgar, 31, of Harrison, who was arrested at his job in Newark, police said.

Melgar told police that his cousin offered him $500 to accept the package, which contained 489 grams of methylone (MDMA), valued at $40,000, police said.

Hours later, Melgar’s cousin Linda Balovcik, 33, and her husband Pavol Balovcik, 38, both of Delanco Township, Burlington County, arrived at the Patterson Street home to pick up the package, police said.

Melgar and both Balovciks are charged with possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, police said. The girlfriend’s involvement in the incident is still under investigation, police said.

Pavol Balovcik was taken to Hudson County jail and held on $100,000 bail, police said. Melgar was also taken to Hudson County jail and held on $75,000 bail, police said. Linda Balovcik was released on her own recognizance, police said.

Police could not comment on where the package was shipped from.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees how retarded this sentence is?

Beyond the obvious incorrect identification of substances by this news organization (or police?), what does this even have to do with Homeland Security? So anything and everything can be labelled a threat to Homeland Security nowadays?

I wonder how the post office knew there was drugs in the package??

We are being watched, people. Any electronic communication... be it over the phone, by email, or otherwise, is being tracked and observed. This is the world we now live in, and we never got to vote for it. Terrorism was just an excuse to bust people for doing harmless shit.

Watch yourselves, my neighbors. Things are getting bad :(

They'd have been a little nearer to correct if they'd used bk-MDMA, but even then it's still not completely accurate.

What dumbass who accepted the controlled delivery. The number one rule: If you don't already know you're supposed to sign for something, you don't sign for it. Period.

LOL what a fucking joke, methylone being MDMA, how thick are these fucking jounralists and what kind of standards do these papers have when they print nonsense like this without checking facts.

The only dumbass in this situation is the journalist, what is some 86 year old writing this who has never left her bedroom? Not once.. but twice... jesus.

Communication MIGHT be the fault. I doubt Homeland Security would be involved for some petty methylone worth around 40,000. There has to be something in the bigger picture here. I just saw this right now and things like these interest me a little way too much. It's like solving a puzzle :x so I decided to do a little bit of research.

Both of them have accounts (Pavol Balovcik and Jaime Melgar) on this one particular site. Both live'D' in the same area of New Jersey, approximately within 80 miles of each other. However, Pavol currently lives at Cliffwood, NJ, instead of "Delanco Township, Burlington County", as the news article states. Jamie lives at Harrison (The residence that they found the delivered package.), which is pretty much right next to Cliffwood, in about a 30 mile radius.

Jaime Melgar's online profile shows he is of Hispanic descent, so I'm guessing maybe that is one of the reasons why the DHS is involved? The DHS have a branch called the HSI (ICE) that deals with human and drug smuggling within the United States as well as International trade. You know damn well who the ICE doesn't like ;) Why the HSI and not the DEA though? Anybody want to give an opinion about the jurisdictions? I have the notes but it's pretty long and posting here would be a little too much. Note that the HSI also deals with "cybercrime" and U.S. Customs.

Pavol Balovcik, I'm guessing of Eastern European descent?

Reading the media outlet's story, something sounds really really fishy. I wonder if they really are snitching each other out for a 40 stacks of dope? How did the girl get released on OR? Does that happen often in Jersey? Why isn't there any mention of any arrests of the girl that signed for the package? Her involvement is still under investigation? How did they know it was intended for Jaime? Seriously, what's with the delivery through USPS? Must be stupid to have something mailed under your name, I'm trying to get inside their minds, but I don't see any valid reason for them to do that unless they are either too fucking stupid, or some other option. But then again, I don't believe half of what anything mainstream news tells me anyways. You can hardly trust their words to be facts.

Interesting link I came up on, kind of makes me think twice with skepticism about this whole situation.

So let's set this story straight.

A 38 year old Eastern European being "framed" or "snitched" on by a 31 year old Hispanic dude, who are somehow related (cousins?), and then the ICE being involved in something like this? Who knows, maybe the ICE just came up on some fresh new meat to feed them some info about the "bigger" things going on behind the scenes.

Or.
I wonder if there are OTHER people involved that were getting "paid" $500 to have things delivered to their homes. USPS style. Lawl. My head hurts from all the thinking.

I know people who if they got busted with a pound of drugs it wouldn't even be the worst thing to happen to them this week. There are certainly people willing to take the risk of using their address. When I was paranoid I got a hobo to sign for a post office box for me.
I sign for everything that comes to my door. Maybe I leave packages in a pile of junk mail for a week. Prove my ex wife didn't send it there. Prove I ordered it. I know a guy who makes a big production of carrying the package out to the garbage bin, he sneaks out at 4 am to retrieve it.
I know there is no price discussion but a quick check of prices for 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylcathinone are much lower than what police are claiming it is worth.
Every time this happens people say it's the end of mailing, it's the NSA etc. Drugs in the mail, in small amounts, and domestic is pretty damn safe. You order a pound of Methylone of China to the USA, that's high risk and foolish.

Ive ordered small to medium amount of shit from various benzos to vials of k and 25c, ranging from within the country, england, peru to india and pakistan lol. Never had a problem with the delivery. Curious as to how it got intercepted. The order from pk blew my mind it actually arriverd without the accompaniment of a swat team. Plus the errors in this article are shameful. Now methylone is ecstasy...whats the world coming to.

No most of homeland security's operations involve drug interdiction. It's a way to downplay the cost of the war on drugs as fighting terrorism. ..
