I'm am frowned upon by the local parents because I send my kids to the park by themselves. The oldest is ten so I don't see it as a big deal, but apparently the other kids think they are bad arses because they get to come home only when dinner is ready.

I'm hoping I am breeding a couple of independent, free thinkers who will have a leg up on the other pussies their age.

I agree, we've just started letting our son go tothe local skatepark without adults, as long as he's with a friend same age ( a sensible one though, a lot of 7 year olds are cretins with no sense of danger and just run into roads after a feather or whatever) or older.

A few parents think this is bad,, we all parent in different ways, once again I agree with you though OTW, ids need independence to learn their way in the world. And lots and lots of love too.

i have to say i might feel differently if we lived in a big city, I know here if he goes anywhere in our "town", anyone who sees him will know him anyway, and the roads aren't exactly busy, the only danger is the royal mail vans being driven round at high speed in 2nd gear.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want my kids to grow up too fast. When I see other kids at doof's who know how to fire twirl my first thought is, " I bet that kid knows how to roll a great spliff". But kids need to make mistakes, get out of tricky or slightly dangerous situations. The whole stranger danger thing is good but sometimes you need kids to be able to judge and make a decision themselves.

My little dude was slowly getting caught in a strong current at the beach and a dude offered his hand o pull him out. He refused because they teach him to be afraid of men which is only true 80% of the time.

I don't think anyone's getting you wrong.

Despite being a complete bellend, you always strike me as a good dad.

The stranger danger thing is absurd.

case in point.

It's Father's Day here on Sunday, I guess we will see how great a dad I am. The little people have spoken

Just before you create a bubble that has to be burst at some later date, no matter what your kids think of you

You are a complete and utter bellend of the very highest order, this is established fact and reinforced daily by the utter bilge water that flows so freely from a mind so lacking in self awareness and so shallow I'm not entirely convinced you aren't a poorly coded bot:D

Evening good people of Europe....and Africa

Didn't you have me on ignore? Or was that just so you looked cool?

Did I look cool then ? I'm not really sure I know what it means, very '70s, or colonial maybe ??

'subliminal ignore' is the only thing I use, you're back on.....now fuck off:D

@SHM...good eve to you Sir, tis me of the 23, reborn and all that, I'll leave you all to it for now I've got my mobile tethered to my laptop in a field in the Cotswolds but the keyboard is failing and amongst a host of weirdities the 6 key keeps sticking on.

Cotswolds is weird anyway man. Once pulled up at a petrol station to ask directions and saw the silly cow behind the till going for the panic alarm.

Subliminal ignore? What the fuck is that? What if you are really thirsty and coca cola flashed one too many times on the screen?

Censorship is sad. Even more so when you do it to yourselves. Not as sad as not having the scruples to stand up for your beliefs.

A 6 key? pfft, on my laptop the fucking 'I' key is dead. Definitely makes typing a real endurance sport anyhoo.

Hope you're having a good 'un anyway.

Also, has anyone heard owt from Brimz still? I asked earlier but no one said owt.
