impact of LSD on 80's/ 90's rave.

Even when he's doing that "cat clawing you" move with his hands?

I think that song actually got played on Top of the pops one week.

I'm not one for the old "our drugs was better back when I was young" & all that shite... but as far as events for tripping & pilling at, the variety of options & the variety of music, that was the time, the early 90's! You don't know shit you folk doing stuff now, you've no idea what it was like, out on the cutting edge like that! We never had no free tap water & fucking paramedics standing by for us I'm telling ya! We fought our way through!

All meant in jest of course, except the drugs bit, drugs are much better now! Lmao

Thbbpt to you oldies and your rave tales of old.

Glad this was asked though because I was curious - out of interest, how much acid did people tend to have in a night, back then? These days anything over about 50 mics seems to be seen as a bit daring..

MailMonkey.......

I was at this too :)

I took a fingertip of crystal from a jar once. tripped for days

Apart from that the tolerance does build up a fair bit. Always did more at outside raves.
The most I did in a single night probably around 12 drops of very good quality liquid

The black pyramind geltabs were also very stong so you only needed a few of those
Stayed away from blotter as a general rule( apart from the jesus christ blotter), simply cos there was so much better liquid around in those days in California

Ahh the good old days

There's not much any more but years ago, before my time (surely not before yours ;)), there was a massive outdoor/illegal rave scene here.

I'm not aware of it, my "time" was probably 1991-1996, I have a few mates who were fairly well-known DJs, locally, and I can't remember it being mentioned. They played clubs and ran their own nights, getting paid was probably part of their plan. I suppose if you're already minted then running a free party might come more naturally. As it's in my head now I'll ask one of them when I see him. I'll probably find out I wasn't invited because of my brogues.

I do know of a few raves that were put on in a quarry near where I grew up but they were tiny, tiny things.

this thread really surprised me, so acid was more popular than ecstasy in the early 90's then? Weird, I swear all the documentaries say that ecstasy dominated the scene and acid was easily available but not used as much.

The impression I'm getting from here though is that acid and speed dominated the early rave scene, then ecstasy came in later. But it's those early years where rave was biggest, and which most people associate with rave and Ecstasy.

And all the documentaries about the sixties lead you to believe that everybody was psychedelic and swingin'.

Cultural revisionism has a way of doing that. :)

I knew boy george would have some purpose sooner or later in his career

Might not be a representative sample you get here, though. Maybe all the MDMA users lost the magic and settled down, while the trippers remained more interested in drugs generally and that's why some of us are here on BL. There were certainly a lot of people taking Es, and a bit of variation from scene to scene.

Lots of football hoollgans loved MDMA back in the day
No coincidence than hooliganism dropped a fair bit at that time

From Euro 88 to about 1994 there was about half as much fighting at footy

The glory days of England running Holland in Dusseldorf in 1988 were never to be repeated till the same yobs got a good tolerance for MDMA ( Or grew up)

The fact that England never qualified for an overseas tournament from after italia 1990 to france 1998 also helped along with the prolonged effect of the bin dippers and their heysel ban

And the Hillsborough disaster had nothing to do with that whatsoever?

Dont get me started on the bin dippers, they set english football back light years but all they can talk about is their "istoree"

Not to mention they could have gotten english football teams banned again when they climbed the fences in istanbul in 2005

And their fans are fucking shit as well compared to ours

Wheres their famous atmosphere here ??

People died that day, whether you consider them 'bin dippers' or not. That shit was real.

And I'm a Manc, so I actually have a proper excuse to hate them. You're trying too hard.

Yep mate they are a really classy club from top to bottom

http://www.theguardian.com/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2013/may/06/anfield-liverpool-david-conn

but no worries eh? they have "istoree" and alan hanson and lawro and (now) owen control the lovefest for the mongs that love them and follow them blindly

And just how does that justify your indifference toward the deaths of 96 people?

When on the thread did I ever mention anything about that incident?

But if we want to talk about victims lets talk about the 39 Juve supporters , no accident there was it ?

Liverpool fans were well known in the late 70's and early 80's as the scum of Europe causing trouble whereever they went

Chelsea have had their fair share of Hooligans TLM and link themselves with the holligans of Rangers..Blues brothers or summing. Roma fans are the worst IME and utter fannies, driving round on mopeds knifing kids. Utter scum.

Anyway best acid I ever took were called 'Nelson Mandelas' I dropped 2, it felt like about 10.

Also Super Strawberries were damn good !
