What was your 1st car ?

I'm in my 40s and never owned a car, always been on bikes anyone else more into two wheels than four? My first bike was a RD125, but it was re-bored into a 180cc and that re-bore made a big difference speed wise.

I'm 30 and still haven't passed my car test, passed my bike test when i was 17 though. First "bike" was a Peugeot 50cc scooter, when I passed my test I got a Honda VFR 400, which is still in the garage now, although needs some work on the electrics to get her running again. Great fun bike though, all the power at 7,000rpm+ and a beautiful whistle from the gear driven cams.

1987 Ford Bronco II

Likely not the best vehicle for a 17 year-old to learn on. I drove my next few cars like they were off-road vehicles.

Passed mine on the 2nd go aged 19, the instructor did say I was a little laid back mind.

You bet I was, I figured if I can pass my Test mildly stoned I'm good to go. :p

I actually started learning to drive, decided I couldn't be bothered and stopped. Not really that interested, buses and bicycles can take me everywhere - if I can cycle to work in fucking devon, -12C up hill all the way, both directions, horizontal rain on Christmas day 6am and on time then tbh why bother getting a car?

I never bothered getting a car licence myself, can't see the point. I think it is about 15 years since I drove one. I'm on a CB 400 at the moment, well that and I have a Vespa 200cc which I use myself at the weekend and also use it to take my mam on her day out once a week, she is in her 80s and still enjoys being on bikes

Silver E reg VW polo, cost me £1000. I scraped the whole side of it down a wall on my return journey home from picking it up.

edit E plate = 88 i think

ouch !!!!!!

I dropped a motorbike someone had just sold me, as soon as they disappeared and i put it on its stand it fell over and smashed shit loads of stuff up on dropped side. Fuckin gutted.

my first car was a vauxhall chevette estate. looked like this:

but it was mustard coloured and the rims were not nearly that good. paid 200ukp for it and it lasted about 6 months.

it was awesome. i lived in london at the time and learned a love of driving in london from behind the wheel of that mustard beauty.

A sky blue < 1 litre G reg Metro, cost about £200 :)

It was awful. The suspension made banging sounds whenever I turned a corner.

I LOVED it, the freedom of having my own car was beyond awesome.

I saw the car and fell in love with it. The pop up headlights, leather seats, lightweight chassis...

Spent a bit extra to get a good one, low mileage etc...

And it still died within 6 months of purchase. Never buy old sports cars. A lesson I've learnt at great expense.

That's beautiful raas!! Can't blame you for falling in love.

My parents failed to learn that same lesson, also at great expense. They had a porsche just like that for many years, cost £2k just to get it serviced and it still wouldn't start in the rain.

I owned one of those too a while back.
