LSD given to child soldiers in Africa?

in this, a liberian says that during the civil war, child soldiers were given drugs like cocaine before combat, but he also said something that surprised me, they were given LSD too.

how could LSD be an effective tool to make child soldiers more aggressive? to me it seems like a weird choice. Cocaine or Meth, or maybe ketamine to make them dissociated and easier to brainwash, seem like better choices.

it upset me to hear that a drug known for it's ability to inspire peace and love was used to help commit horrific atrocities.

watch from 10:30 onwards to hear him talking about the use of drugs on child soldiers.
 
I've read that tribes in the Amazon have used ayahuasca before going to war, but I think that's because they think it gives them special powers. I have to imagine LSD, if used at all, was used in ignorance by the brain-washers. The reason they use cocaine is to addict the kids so that they can send them to commit atrocities and if they refuse no cocaine. Some soldiers use cocaine and meth to get them revved up for sex homicide terrorism but I can't imagine psychedelics would amplify the sorts of twisted thrills those assholes get out of that though.

I saw a guy on LSD beat the crap out of a drunk guy. He had to be stopped there was no internal I have to stop before I kill this guy. I wouldn't be shooting straight but I am sure LSD could turn me into a savage in war time. There have been many incidents of violence on LSD. Peace and love is just another LSD stereotype. The good news is violence while drunk is far more common, and people who are violent on LSD are not usually peaceful when sober. Like the guy I knew who almost killed the drunk guy, he was a violent asshole all the time.
I think the Aztecs took peyote in war ( I am too lazy to look up a source), but they didn't win..
 
Sounds like horseshit to me. There's film on youtube of soldiers who have been given LSD - after an hour or so they are all sat laughing together helplessly and one is climbing a tree to try and feed the birds.

I think it will just be some clueless prohibitionist who'se heard LSD makes you deranged.
 
British soldiers are not the same as the Child Soldiers in Liberia. I doubt most British Soldiers were ordered to kill their parents, then kidnapped and ordered to kill and dismember more people in the next village. Comparing British Soldiers to the insanity in Liberia is a little short sighted if anything.
 
Then again, if LSD is useless for highly-trained, professional soldiers then imagine how utterly useless it is for children.
 
Maybe they tried to use this while brainwashing them, mkultra style.

You could make things like torture a lot worse with psychedelics, maybe that's what they tried.
 
I dunno - some young african army commander with a few quid in his pocket is going to think "I'll buy some hooch and a whore or I'll buy some drug I've never heard of and give it to the child soldiers". I'm not sure they're the kind of guys to throw money around.
 
Do not see why the would be given LSD. The idea was to addict the children to drugs and to make them feel less remorse while jacking them up and Heroin and Cocaine are more then sufficient to do so.

Yes, people can be violent on LSD... but I would imagine its effects are far too unpredictable for the asshole "commanders" who do such things to children.

They did not win because they were up against vastly superior killing technology and tactics. Furthermore, mythology confused things, they originally considered the conquistadors to be gods. The conquistadors used this to their advantage and were allowed entrance to villages and cities.
 
It's just a ridiculous idea - there's some very, very small chance that you'd take speed or cocaine to help you fight but no chance whatsoever of taking a psychedelic. For a start any fear you feel is going to be magnified a thousand times, your senses are completely distracted - when you were supposed to be looking for the guy with the gun you'd be looking at the trees etc. It's complete bullshit, it's by someone who has no idea of what psychedelics are.

And while someone on LSD might be capable of being violent I don't believe they'd be better high than sober. Put it this way - if I had the choice of taking on Manny Pacqio sober or taking him after he'd had 500 mics of acid, I take him on the acid every single time.
 
I was thinking about it and I suppose if you gave child acid, particularity one who grew up in Africa with almost no drug education, they might become confused and frightened as to what's going on. Then, a commander could say 'go to that village and kill everyone or you'll be trapped in hell' or something, then the frightened child would believe them and feel like they have no choice.

the actually practicalities of using weapons on acid is one flaw though, I can barley operate my ipod.
 
You really want a child tripping on acid with you when you're trying to sneak up on a bunch of heavily armed men.
