Psychedelics with sedative effects

ONE ANSWER ... LSA.

Mushrooms are not a "sedative psychedelic" for everybody they effect everyone differently.

You can legally purchase LSA containing seeds in the USA.

Fun fact, ergine (AKA lysergic acid amide) is actually considered to be a sedative by the DEA (though it does have psychedelic effects). 4-HO-MET wasn't exactly sedating to me, but it was a pretty gentle ride and even though I experienced a lot of dissociation and ego loss, I never really panicked. Considering I get panic attacks, I'd say that's pretty impressive! Muscimol, though it's considered by many to be more a deliriant, is a sedative hallucinogen. Zolpidem/zopiclone/zaleplon (ESPECIALLY zaleplon) have hallucinogenic effects as well if you stay awake through them, though from experience I can say that it's not too fun.

Anyways, you might consider keeping a GABAergic on hand no matter what you end up taking. Clonazepam and lorazepam work great for me when I need to end a trip abruptly, and I'd imagine that over the counter options like homotaurine and gamibetal (GABOB) work too.

To sum it up, the unscheduled seeds of Hawaiian baby woodrose, muscimol, and z-drugs are all legal hallucinogens with a sedative effect. However, I would definitely recommend 4-HO-MET as a good starter psych, and it's never a bad idea to keep some failsafes on hand. Hope this helps :)

Eh...this is just a bullshit story they told to give legitimacy to having it placed in Schedule III. It's more that they wanted to schedule immediate precursors of LSD.

LSA has way too much potential for nausea. If you don't do a polar/nonpolar extraction you run the risk of stomach cramps. I have tried a range of different psychedelics over the years and I can say that none has ever made me feel sicker than HBWR seeds

2c-c feels a bit sedative to me.

Others unlikely to produce bad trips (for me anyway) are 4-ho-met and AL-LAD (neither was too stimulating either).

Or just use whichever one you want and have some benzos with you just in case (just having them helps avoid bad trips).

I would recommend 2CI, the first bit is a little rough but I always find I can eat and sleep on it.

Huh? Most find 2C-I to be quite stimulating.

2C-C was pretty mellow, but I took around 25-30 mgs.

I second having benzos available. I tend to always like to have them when using stimulants and or pyschs.

I have been fairly interested in experimenting with psychedelics for some time, although I do have my concerns. The possibility of a bad trip as well as long term effects are quite disturbing to me.
Anyway, I was wondering if there are any psychedelics with natural sedative properties. I am not a fan of stimulants and synthetics so I wanted to find something that was the best of both worlds. What are your thoughts on this topic? Any info is appreciated.

I recommend ketamine, it's not a traditional psychedelic but a dissociative. I can't really think of any tryptamines and/or phenetylamines that felt sedating, maybe DMT but that's not a good first time psychedelic. Anyway, ketamine is sedating and it seems to me it would be alot harder to have a bad trip on dissociatives than traditional psychedlics. Also the duration is short, so if it gets too confusing it's over quickly. Traditional psychedelics have a tendancy to cause anxiety for me, the worst thing that has happened from taking too much dissociatives have been extreme confusion...

I hadn't considered ketamine upon initially reading this topic because I was thinking classical psychedelics and not dissociatives, but I'd definitely recommend it for a trippy yet relaxing time. I've only ever experienced nausea on ketamine if the batch was prepared very poorly, although I do know other people get it at higher doses either from drips or double vision. I'd also recommend ketamine over MXE as I find MXE to be more stimulating. While I can just lay around on it, I often feel more compelled to get things done or be active.

As stated once prior in this thread: Ketamine

While I am under the assumption what you seek isn't made in a lab based on your word choice, Ketamine is a blissful, relaxing, sedating psychedelic that has potential to reveal much more than other substances. I'd group it in with LSD and various mushrooms as a very profound psychedelic that yields much when used right.

Mushrooms and DMT are pretty sedating. I would suggest either of those for your first experience. DOC was really sedating for me too. But you shouldn't be afraid of a bad trip. It is a risk but is usually more of a learning experience than a traumatizing experience. I've had a full blown psychotic episode on a high dose of LSD, and by the time the trip was ending the state I was in subsided. There were no long term side effects. I've known people who had more/less a bad trip and were able to calm themselves.

4-Aco-DMT to me feels very sedating, this is even over mushrooms. I've taken a few cosmic naps on it, my last time made all my other "couch lock moments" seem like a joke.
2c-c is also sedating, during the peak I had no energy to do anything but lay on the floor next to my kitties, we were all very okay with that too.
DMT when coming out of a breakthrough or even a non-breakthrough experience, sometimes is extremely exhausting.

Proper set & setting will greatly reduce your chances of a bad trip always keep that in mind.

Mushrooms, might even be relevant to the strain of mushroom in correlation to sedative psychedelia.
4-Aco-DMT make take the win for the most sedative, dreamy psyche. One of the best trips I've ever had, beautiful shroomesque visuals with MDA/MDMA tactile body high. Utterly beautiful.
Methoxetamine at the right dose can be nice to sit back and enjoy the dissociation. MXE + low dose benzodiazepine or opioid might help with the sedative side of things.
Ketamine as well ^
MDAI was sedating, but shit for euphoria or psychedelia. Not even sure why I brought this one up or why it was synthesized in the first place. I think the chemist was going for an MDA-lite and/or MDMA-lite.

Ketamine I probably the closest thing that you're going to find to a 'true' sedative-psychedelic rather than just a psychedelic with some sedating properties. Though ironically ketamine is technically a stimulant because it doesn't depress your breathing.

On the other hand I've always found Psilocin/Psilocybin/4-AcO-DMT to product a very calm, almost trance like state that also doesn't interfere with my sleeping in the same way that psychedelic phenethylamines do. Although, as above posters have noted, 2C-C I pretty 'sedating' without being a 'sedative' (in my opinion)- it's like being in a relaxing psychedelic trance. Be careful with the dosing though- a high dose of 2C-C is a white knuckle ride beginning to end!

I also found DMT quite sedating- admittedly its duration of effect is very short & on a 'breakthrough' dose concepts like 'stimulant' and 'sedative' have no meaning...but I have always found that once I come down fully I feel not so much tired, but just 'ready to go to bed' and I never have difficulty getting to sleep after smoking DMT (I suffer from chronic, on-going insomnia). These days I only ever smoke DMT later in the evening, around two hours before I'm intending to go to bed.
