Hi I just picked up a 5 bud and put it on a piece of paper on my lamp shad after a minute or two most of it was nice and bone dry but I started to notice smoke coming off so i lifted up the paper and seen that it was slightly burnt the weed doesnt look burn but smells different it smells a bit like glue But Ive just rolled it into to spliffs so we'll see how it comes out.

probally vaped some of your weed by the sounds of it, it would probally still work just as fine, some of it probally just lost some potency

Just cause it got a little hot doesn't mean anything. Even if it's brownish. To truly get the THC out, you would have needed to heat up your weed to ~360F, which I doubt your lamp can do. It's really not a big deal anyways. Even if you did accidentally vape your weed you can still smoke it.

Btw, why did you leave the weed on a piece of paper on the lamp? You know you don't need your weed to be bone dry. If it is so dry it crumbles into dust, then it is way to dry. Top shelf weed should be hard to break apart with your fingers and get them super sticky. The only time I can think of when you should dry out weed is after harvest.

I've done similar as the OP. Twisted a desk lamp upside down, got a piece of paper to hold the bud directly in place over the bulb. After about 8min the paper will begin to burn-- well, not "burn," per se`, but it will turn brown and curl... burning without a flame, if you will? I couldn't think of the word to describe that process... you know, the immediate precursor to combustion. I figure youse guys don't get to hung up on perfect word choice, though.

Leave the bud under certain desk lamps too long and GGooDD is 100% correct. You are too, though, benny, just because it got hot doesn't mean everything was vaped, but it likely means that the quality of the herbal will be lower than it was before the desk lamp adventure.

Unless you get a lot of smelly, noticeable vapor, you're not going to destroy your bud.

So why are people turning over lamps to dry their bud? I still don't get this.

I've spilled bubbler water on fresh-out-the-pouch buds more than once, I'm afraid to say. I'd rather apply indirect heat (lightbulb to paper to bud) to a soaking wet bud as opposed to risking burning everything in a microwave or conventional oven. I'm only talking single nugs at a time, though, as fiendish as that may sound. ^_^

Truth be told, though, air-drying works wonders if a person's got little mold risk to worry about. Just let science work that shit out on its own time.

As stated you don't want your bud TOO dry, having it under a lamp is not a good idea.

I've done every drying method possible, hair dryer, lamp, microwave, oven... All ridiculous.

If you've got wet weed stick it in a paper envelope in a dark cupboard for a few hours. Works every time.

If you have bud that is a little wet put it in a sandwich bag & "puff it up" leaving the bud elevated with a corner hanging down. Leave it in the sun on a windowsill The bag steams up & depending on the dampness you may end up with some water in the bottom corner. Check it every thirty minutes until dry.

The best way to dry weed that hasn't been dried properly after harvest is to put it into a sandwich bag with some orange peels. Seriously, it works really well and it doesn't make your weed 'bone-dry.' That being said, y'all need to get some better weed!
