Michigan Father Killed in Marijuana Child Removal Incident

I'm not arguing that they had any reason to be there is the first place, but the guy pulled a knife and lunged at a cop. If that part is true, I can see why he got shot, even if I don't agree with entire reasoning behind their presence.

Also, I would probably react in a similar manner if my daughter was being taken away.

It's a shitty situation all around, and it could have been avoided if someone shot Nixon down.

The saddest part about this story to me is that the child that was being "protected" is now fatherless (and perhaps motherless since the Dad was going for full custody) and will now go to foster care with the image of police killing his father to live with for the rest of his life.

I can drive around hot boxing my car with tobacco while a kid is inside and that's okay, but smoke a joint in front of a kid and that's not okay. Stoned parenting is not bad parenting, unless you are a bad parent to begin with. Hell my parent's were drunk but still good parents. I know people doing cocaine who are great parents. I am against taking children unless they are being abused or neglected, that's it.

Would really love to see the day we pick up arms and fire back, but it seems like that idea in America is impossible because everyone's too damn oblivious.

It worked in The Battle of Algiers. I'm not sure it'd work here. For one, the police aren't really an occupying force.

I'll just bring up the example I heard the other day. East Germans in 1989 were staging protests everywhere against Honecker and the Stasi. Honecker ordered paratroopers to open fire on the protesters. The paratroopers refused to massacre their own people. This refusal weakened Honecker, who stepped down within a week. The East German government crumbled soon thereafter.

Something like that might work here, but it'd take many many many more participants than any Occupy encampment could muster. As it stands now, there's way too much cop love in America right now. So long as the majority regard them as heroes and not oppressors, significant change is unlikely.

Not only has this, once again made me cry but I am honestly sick to stomach, nauseated over this....have comments to make but will follow later...too upset to make sense. This is somewhat personal for me too

Definately some fucked up shit here, I think this cop had a vendetta against this guy, probably just because he didn't like his tone as much as anything. There is no way he smelled weed the guy clearly wasn't a cannabis user. I don't understand how if this guy lunged at them with a knife they had time to holster tasers and pull out guns? Something doesn't add up there.

I fucking doubt this guy lunged at them with a knife, but if he did would that really be unreasonable enough to warrant death. I can imagine wanting to do some pretty violent shit to some asshole who made up a lie so he could take my kid away... I just don't see the argument for not using a taser just because he had some pissy little knife. Isn't the cops motto supposed to be 'To protect and serve'?! It seems to me they are a bunch of fucking pussies who would rather kill innocent people than be subjected to even the mildest risk to their personal safety.

Seriously, mmaybe if they had a machete or poleaxe or something with length. If the cop wasnt a pussy he could have just tased him, or if he was moussad he could have disarmed him with krav maga. Cops just rely on guns and backup which just brings more fire power. Also you arent going to find any deep thinkers on the police force because they dont want ppl with an iq over a certain number, as seen in the story.
