i used to abuse mdma 2 to 3 times a week, (taking as many pills i can afford each night) i did this for about 4 or 5 months. i now have really bad general anxiety and occasional panic attacks. is it possible it permenatley affected my GABA receptors?

Anxiety and panic attacks can be a side effect of over-use or use in general for some people. It will most likely subside with time. Focus on other things and before you know it, you'll be back to normal. <3

Serotonin downregulation is probably the main culprit, not GABA.. lower levels of 5-HT have been linked to depression and anxiety among a number of other things.

That kind of use is rather serious, and will likely have some ramifications that are far reaching. Luckily life goes on, our bodies adapt to the changes and nearly everyone recovers in time. Just focus on what you can do to get better, the longer you focus on problems in the past the longer you will have to deal with them.

A month or so ago I went to a music festival, and took E 4 days in a row. Afterwards, I experienced panic attacks, and sometimes still do. I don't really know what it's from, but I think the receptors in your brain are very sensitive. Be careful.

Not only this, but lowered amounts of Serotonin are suspected to be the culprit behind many mood disorders. Bipolar Disorder is suspected to be caused by possible down regulation of Serotonin.

Lesser amounts of Serotonin cycling through the Mesolimbic Reward Pathways are also suspected to be the causing mechanism behind Impulse Control Disorders. This (therefore) also is believed to be some of the causing mechanism behind Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and could contribute to impulsiveness due to ADHD (although, ADHD impulsiveness is believe to be related, more so, to the executive brain malfunction that is ADHD).

Yes it definitely can trigger anxiety. Like Folley said, MDMA works on your seritonin system. If you throw it out of whack by abusing chemicals you can definitely feel like shit.

The good news? Your brain does a very good job at adjusting itself. As long as you do not have a co-morbid mental health problem, abstinence time and healthy loving should have you back to where you were.

There are many of us who went through the nasties because of "MDMA" or the shit RCs sold as MDMA most of us are better or on the road to recovery.

@ovo your best weapons for recovery is abstaining from drugs, healthy diet and exercise and having a positive/optimistic view on things.

Needless to stay definitely stay away from MDMA.

personal experience being an ex ice addict. and dropping googs every weekend. i now have drug induced anxiety. and i've never been able to get rid of it. so i guess you're gunna have to deal with it or go on some valium or riddles!
