I'm not sure if this forum considers tobacco to be a drug, but I thought I'd post this anyways. I've been using dipping tobacco (Grizzly) for about 7-8 months now. I usually do 2-3 large dips per day, and I go through a can of Grizzly in 4-7 days. After going 24+ hours without a dip, I usually start to get a mild craving for some dip. It's nothing serious; it's not like I get desperate or anything. However, my tobacco consumption has not increased at all since I started. If anything, it has gone down slightly.

I don't understand how some people can go through 1 can per day, some people even do 2 cans per day. Ever since I started, I have not had any urge to increase my consumption.. Although I don't quite get a buzz like I use to, it's still enjoyable and it calms me down after a long day. So do you guys think I have a problem? I don't want to turn into one of those people that go through 1 can per day, and cannot go 2+ hours without a dip. Thanks!

Mental addiction can kick in quickly but physical addiction to nicotine takes about 18 months.
Just get your headstraight and try to use less or cold turkey it. You still got time man.

I don't really want to quit yet. I'd like to use it without being addicted, if that's possible.

Nicotine withdrawal should start to be noticable within a couple of hours from the last dose.
This is the main reason its so hard to quit and what makes the cravings so difficult.
With this in mind, id say that what your experiencing is a learned response i.e after a day or so, your stress levels build and since you use the tobacco to relax, your sub-conscious sends a message up to your thinking brain to take the tobacco that helps it feel relaxed.
These types of cravings arent addiction but they are the ingredients that addiction is made from.
