Going to join a mate who was abandoned in EU for a couple of days and am not really going there to fuck prossys or to get stoned really... The major attraction would be nearby countryside, truffles and other drugs that are very easy or cheap to get there. Buyable in shops would be preferable just because it's easier. There is potential for my mate to currently be carrying coke but i won't know until i'm there.

So what drugs am i likely to find in shops? 'benzofury', branded chems and weed alternatives like in UK or do they have a bit nicer variation?
Also, I'm there for like 3 nights what shall we do?

There should just be a big and dandy amsterdam thread...

They have truffles for sale in shops but they're not going to be cheap, matter of fact they'll be outrageously expensive. Can't remember how much I've paid but it was a lot. They are a lovely trip though, very loved up, euphoric and easy on the mind.

You will not find any chemicals for sale in shops, I can't be bothered finding you the link but basically the Amsterdam local government and the smart shops have a tacit agreement that the latter will not sell any RC, they used to sell stuff like methylone before in exchange for the government turning a blind eye and not closing the truffle loophole. Basically they banned psylos(mushrooms) but since truffles are not actually mushrooms they can still be sold.

You will find truffles, kratom, salvia divinorum and a bunch of herbal xtc pills for sale.

truffles, salvia and kratom sounds ideal for a couple of lovely days tbh. Money is not a worry at all tbh, i'm happy rinsing a couple hundred for a couple of happy days. Plenty of time to get more in the future.

I take it you went, is there anything actually around to see? Any countryside/foresty areas nearby?

The city itself is wonderful, and if I remeber correctly has a nice botanical garden. I don't remember woody areas around A'dam, but you can find flat agricultural countryside. However, fields are nicer when tulips are in bloom (around May). There are some cute (and/or over-touristy) villages on the shores of the Markermeer/IJsselmeer but maybe your best chance could just be to find a scenic place along the seashore.

^^ There is indeed a botanical garden called the Hortus Botanicus. It is not that big though so not a place you can spend a day in. Then there's the Amsterdamse Bos, which is a foresty area with a big lake. It's close to the airport.

If you're into your countryside stuff, there are a couple of nice campsites on the outskirts of Amsterdam where you and your mate can rent a cabin for about the price of a bed each in an 18 person hostel in Amsterdam. From there you can rent bikes and go further out into the countryside, go tripping, go sailing, do whatever takes your fancy. Maybe you should take some AL-LAD with you in your sock or something?

I was offered MDMA pills by the owner of a bong shop within 10 minutes of arriving in Amsterdam in March!

they have perfectly good truffles over there, i see no need to import drugs even if they're legal.
Cheers for the ideas though, reckon we can get a lodge for less than 35 quid a night?
The Amsterdamse Bos looks decent, will probably head there. Thanks!

Amsterdamse Bos is pretty good. The surrounding countryside is quite good, and the site has a friendly atmosphere. The cabins are good there too if you get a 2 person. I don't recommend going in a 6 person, because there are always really loud Portuguese/Spanish people. I would probably say that 'Lucky Lake' is slightly better though. It has more interesting walks, is in a nicer location, has nicer cabins/caravans, has an inside smoking room with TVs and games and stuff, is next to a boat rental place etc. It's a bit more expensive and a little harder to get to though, which could be a real nightmare if you go out for a sesh in Amsterdam and need to get back in the early morning.

Failing that, this place is pretty cool:

Right so i have accomodation, flights and everything sorted thank god (only flying in like 15 hours time, not yet packed)

Are there any decent cheap pubs which me & friend can chat & catch up in, or any place people recommend? Is beer expensive & do they actually sell cider?
Do places sell reagents at all, like specialist safe party places or similar.

Beer is very expensive, around 5 Euros for a pint. Didn't go to many pubs to be honest, preferred to tour the coffeeshops. Head to Warmoesstraat and you'll find a good mix of both.

Just checked and one of the most known smartshops (Azarius) stocks EZ-tests. I suppose other shops do as well (EZ is a dutch brand, IIRC). About the pubs.. google 'bruin café', travel guides usually have articles featuring some of them (for instance, here http://www.lonelyplanet.com/the-netherlands/amsterdam/travel-tips-and-articles/76578.

fuck this......im going to book the DAM for april 2014. Me and the the bird, well the fiancee as she is now. I ve only ever done beach and partying holidays. This will be a new adventure. OOFT!

Booked! 5th - 12th. Fly from Edinburgh to AMS Schiphol. Was £104 return. The price literally went up within 5 mins. It was £94 when I 1st checked.

Now to figure out wtf to do. Probably do a bit of cycling, see some sights and consume some drugs.

Seriously glad it didnt keep raising like that for me then, only booked my flights this morning. Costing a total of 300 quid return, eek! Accomodation is costing 100Euros, 3 nights in centre plus a little deposit. I'll bring back some pics ;)

I stayed in one called durty nellys few years back, its a pub/hostel. they were sound, they let us keep our passports and extra money in the safe behind the bar. a few other lads I know stayed in a different hostel around the same time and stuff was stolen from the room when they were out.
