Make that 'flavourless domestic pisswater'.

Apart from Cooper's and maybe a couple more exceptions.

Hahn is a good beer as well as Little Creatures Pale ale.
Most Aussie beer is pure vomit water though, VB Urgh.
Would rather drink fucking Carling

I am not amazed that David Boon managed something like 50 odd beers on the flight to England.
But I am amazed that anyone could carry on after 4 or 5 Aussie beers

Coopers is reasonable... and its on tap everywhere

James Boag's is very nice. I was back in Glasgow recently and they were charging £2.90 a bottle in Peckhams...

COST COMPARISON: AUSTRALIA VS UNITED KINGDOM

On average, the cost of living in Australia is significantly higher than in Britain. Consumer prices are approximately 22 per cent higher while groceries are 25 per cent higher.

Here's how every day items in a daily shop compare:

Item Australia Britain Difference

Loaf of Fresh White Bread (500g) £1.71 £1.00 +71.39 %
Rice (1kg) £1.85 £1.50 +23.03 %
Eggs (12) £2.46 £2.00 +23.03 %
Local Cheese (1kg) £6.15 £6.00 +2.52 %
Apples (1kg) £2.46 £1.66 +48.23 %
Oranges (1kg) £1.85 £1.60 +15.34 %
Bottle of Wine (Mid-Range) £.9.23 £6.00 +53.79 %
Domestic Beer (0.5 liter bottle) £2.77 £1.68 +65.03 %

£9 for wine, fuck that. At that price it better be good, not "mid range"

Not that different to what I've been paying in London tbh :\

No problem- just ask any questions...

if you like the beach there is no better place in the world, its amazing in summer.

That's the whole point really. There's the beach adn it's such an open and free country (in the sense of being able to just take a jeep and drive around), can't see how I won't love it. Money's not the biggest concern anyway, if I don't use many drugs there I'll barely be spending anything...

Ben I think its called Wanted down under or something like that.

Yeah the show is funny cos the parents usually always want the move. Then when the kids are just about coming round to the idea, the producers whip out the laptop and have them skype with their relatives back in Blighty

And then they all go back home
Nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail

Aye, but when your working over there it soon evens itself out. My mate was getting $28 an hour in a sandwich shop

That's the one. Nothing like Nadia Whatsherfuckingname to make you want to leave the country though. I'm surprised no one actually stays.

You can get it at some off licence places in Shephers Bush as that has very big Aussie expat population
£7 for 4 bottles , which isnt too bad. Alo at places like Walkabout, although I dare not venture there, Ghastly place

They have a strange beer naming system there, schooners etc and all those silly names
Whats wrong with a good old Pint !

Not a bad wage. Hears some horror stories about people who went to Shanghai to teach English and after a while the jobs fell through and then they worked at Starbucks for around £2 a hour.
Makes you wonder why they just didnt fly back home !

I think Aussie house prices are quite expensive though, but you do get more bang for your buck than a drab flat in Hammersmith
Perth has an average price now of more than most areas in London or so I heard

Least you get a pool though

Its expensive for general living. Rent is mental. If you chose to live in the city you will pay about £1600 a month and trust me you want to live in the city. I've visited a few places outside the city and there isnt much happening.

Yep I agree they call a pint all different kind of names depending on what part of Aus you are in. If im honest though when I was back in Scotland recently i struggled like fuck with a pint...

Too many deadly spiders and shit to make the beaches and tanned folk worth it in my cowardly opinion.

Is it true the funnel web spider can grow to the size of a dinner plate? Fuck that shit.

Haha. It's the snakes that are a problem for me. I figure in Sydney itself I shouldn't be at too much risk of waking up next to an anaconda or something though. (they don't even have anacondas in Australia do they? oh who knows)

I'll be living on campus, not quite sure what they're charging but wouldn't expect it to be too outrageous...

Yeah I wouldnt move there, too insular ,I went quite a few years ago and it seemed very Parochial.
Maybe its changed now but the way the aussie govt treats immigrants and stories I hear about some Croat friends of mines who moved to Oz and had their kids called " Wogs" each day in school doesnt lend any weight to the argument that Oz society as a whole is very tolerant of anyone who isnt actually "Australian"

Snakes not too bad, its the fucking spiders that are nasty.
Would never harm an animal but might have some fight or flight reaction when faced with a tarantula like bohemoth in the bathroom.
